i found this form of therapy the most successful for me. when i relocate to another place i call and ask if the therapist uses this form of therapy. because so many of my feelings and emotions were triggers for me CBT helps me deal in the here and now altho my immediate emotion stems from my past. perhaps others can benefit from this article.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy...
is a form of psychotherapy that emphasizes the important role of thinking in how we feel and what we do.

CBT is based on the Cognitive Model of Emotional Response.
Cognitive-behavioral therapy is based on the idea that our thoughts cause our feelings and behaviors, not external things, like people, situations, and events. The benefit of this fact is that we can change the way we think to feel / act better even if the situation does not change...

I really like CBT. My rehab used a lot of CBT in relapse prevention, and I just finished a 12 week social phobia treatment group that was entirely CBT based. I really got a lot out of it.
