Unfortunately, once the dreaded words are written down in your chart, there is no way to get around the insurance hassle. I related a history of treated and recovered depression when applying for occupational disability when I started my practice..I am a GYN. When I became depressed and lost my office, I was denied disability due to my previous history of treated and recovered depression. In fact, the policy was written to specifically exclude any mental health condition associated with depression...hence, no disability when I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
You cannot be denied insurance for mental health conditions, as far as I am aware, but the insurance company can make the premium so high they are impossible to pay. After I lost my practice (bankrupcty), and my subsequent health insurance...I applied for individual coverage. The quote I was given was $1000/month. Now I have no coverage. I pay my medical expenses out-of-pocket, including approximately $300/mo for meds. I live in terror that I will have an emergency or major medical problem. My disability payments only go so far. I plan on attempting to get a catastrophe policy when I finish paying off a credit card bill I rang up during a manic episode. At least I will be covered then. If I can get one without a mental health rider.
Good luck. Anxiety during a subsequent pregnancy after a amniocentesis-related miscarriage would definitely be normal. But anxiety can be a manifestation of depression, as I am sure you know. Don't bring up the dreaded "D" word unless you absolutely have to. In my state, I had to have a psychiatrist certify me as competent to practice medicine each year when I applied for my license renewal. This was due to treated and recovered depression. I wish I had just left the diagnosis off the application.
