Was thinking who knows about your mental health? Only my husband and a couple of close friends know about mine as my family would not understand about my mental health.

I think it is really sad too that some people do not have the support of others, I am luckiy that I have a good husband that understands and is a great support to me.

Hi, I'm glad you have a wonderful person nexto to you who understands you and know what youre going throw, sometimes it's the only thing that keep us going, at least for me.

As for me, i have a bf who knows some of things i'm going through (not everything) and he supports me very much. As for the family, they know, but they don't actually care, they just pretend that it's nothing and that really gets me down, cause when i tried to kill myself instead of getting me help or asking me why i did it, they didn't, they only said that for me to want to taking my own life it was because i didin t think of them.

That aside, i'm just glad you have close friends and a husband to talk too =). Hang on them.

My husband, gp and tdoc know.

My siblings and sperm donor don't.

I live in a different country to my family not that I would have much to do with them if I didn't.

my H knew some of my illness, but he had never seen me in a psychotic state and manic. he didn't understand what was happening until he felt helpless and took me to a hospital. i was so ill, i didn't know how sick i was. on that unit, the nurses were stressed because of me, (at least that is what i was told). i am still with H, as i know lots of couples don't stay together when stuff like mental problems show up

There is only one doctor who knows fully. One of my family knows a bit more than the other 4 in my family who know nothing lol well, they know only from being in war and being a nurse with no real understanding,(2 siblings) just word dx only. I doubt my sons have a clue as they "disowned me until I stop being disabled" years ago.
My ex never cared to understand anything and I didn't bother letting him know. My PT knows as much as he needs to help me keep my body going. I doubt even my MD knows much. I had a friend of 30 years that I thought knew me ok but she has slowly exited my life these last few years.

I doubt it matters.

Husband, daughter and son in law. Haven't told Mom as her brother was bipolar and killed himself, so worry I will do the same if she found out I was bipolar.
My boss and co-workers know. That's helps me as if my stress is getting too much, I ask for help, and get it.
But I am still mostly dealing on my own as I don't share the day to day craziness cause they don't get it.

Different people know different details - some know more than others. But everyone I'm close to in any way knows.

I had only intended to tell my family and close friends. But, considering the rise in Hannibal Lecter jokes and odd glances from neighbours of late, I think most people have caught on by now. One of my co-workers must've been... what's the word I'm looking for... loquacious...

My friends figured it out before I did; they were the ones who convinced me to go talk to someone. I had to tell my parents because at the time they were the ones whose insurance plan I was using. My dad didn't believe me and my mom was convinced that I [religion] just wasn't going to church enough. [/religion] They're just now coming around.

Obviously my boyfriend knows, since we live together...

I tend to be fairly selective who I tell. My last employer used it as an excuse to write me up several times (she actually wrote me up for a panic attack) because, as she told me to my face, she didn't feel I had any business working with children. Ever since then I've been wary about it.

I think it is awful that people get fired because of their mental health, It is not a disease.

My family, friends and coworkers either know or suspect that something's going on, but me and T are the only ones that know the details of it.

My mother, my lover, and to a small extent my brother (he's sharper than the rest). People I go to classes with have at least caught on to the fact that I'm incredibly shy, but I haven't outed myself to anyone.
