why do i always put myself down and then feel sorry for myself when i am a lone

It sounds like you have developed a habit that is not serving you well. I'm a big believer in positive affirmations and developing new, healthier habits. There are books and cds that help people with positive thinking; and positive, well-balanced, happy people draw others to them. I offer you encouragement and courage.
