Yes, I think that it is possible to have several disorders.

In some instances, one contributes to another, or several others. If you can tackle one problem, you eliminate more in the process. Like how depression and anxiety usually go hand in hand. It's kind of a domino effect. At least that's my experience.

I suspect that the above posting is correct. I have noticed that problems tend to be inter-twined so that working on one helps the others in nice ways. I can't imagine what it would be like to have a lot of disorders, though.

I'm not cognizant of "all" the disorders of which you speak... but imo sometimes "lesser" disorders are diagnosed in the process of being evaluated over time... when a "greater" diagnosis is given... such as dysthemia might be dx'd but that falls to the wayside when major depression is diagnosed...
I have also wondered about other disorders ... borderline personality disorder dx'd along with DID, where maybe the DID is the whole of it? Or perhaps, on another thought, with DID, maybe a few personality states display symptoms of separate disorders. Maybe that's why the giving of labels is really not the best for the patient, in the long run? No label, confusion over dx's, etc. should or can really minimize what someone is having to deal with... a rose by any other name.. ? TC and don't worry about who you are... be the best you can in the meantime __________________ |

Got tired of all the dx's/ lables till the day was dx'd with DID and read of many who went through the same gromet of dx's before DID. Not saying that is it for you just letting you know how I know it is possible. mlyn |
