(30th dec 2011).

Its the end of the year, the birth of another.
People seem to make resolutions for the new year. Things that always seem to be bad for us. Resolutions are always things we do to much, or what we dont do enough....e.g = Drinking to much or not exercising enough.

In this new year I am going to try a 'Digital Detox' for at least 1 day in the new year. I dont believe that being on the net is bad for me (I reckon 'smoking and drinking' is worse 4 me). I have to say this 'digital detox's' purpose is to re-align my view with people irl.

This year has been my 1st on the net in my home. I was lucky enough to find PC within 3 days of buying my 1st laptop (that is lucky, and it was not chance - it was Fate). The thought of being in other forums and 'chat' sites kinda scares me at heart because I have found that PC is very well 'Policed' by 'mod's' and 'admin' teams.

Thank you PC for being my first internet home. I do love you all.
IRL though, I cannot communicate properly no more. I get nervous because its face to face, and not through a keyboard....
This is my New Year thing - (resolution). A 'Digital Detox' (also detox from medication and detox of what propaganda my poor brain has been filled with..).

Happy New Year All Friends, Members, Mods, Admin, Guest's and PC.

(me in 2012 = )

Oh My Goodness though...lol..check this out.

My laptop blew up just after I wrote 'Digital Detox', I was in a panik...lol.
My battery is broken, but thank goodness the mains still works for my baby laptop ((laptop)).
It did kinda make me think, I thought 'ok' digital detox if I like it or not...
So kay though, the mains link still works...
It was kinda weird, almost like the universe saying 'you write digital detox, ok here you go'......laptop blows up.....*shock*.

Hey, Sanada! I've known people who take digital sabbaticals from time to time. They disconnect from everything--TV, internet, iPod, etc, and only use their computers and cell phones for the most essential means (business, emergencies, and such). One acquaintence did it for almost two months. I tried to disconnect from Facebook for two weeks and lasted a little over a week.

I think it's a great idea. I know that I need to be on my computer less--I just purchased a brand new eReader, after all, and should probably use it!
Thanks for this!

Dig Detox is an excellent concept. For one week following our last hurricane and black out, it was a forced detox which allowed more creative thought to come out.
I put my hand to other things than the keyboard and felt very relaxed. If the brain slows down while watching TV more than it does during sleep, I imagine higher cognitive thought gets slowed down with over-computer use. Of course when the power was on, we all plugged in again. Also, I did lots more reading. Good luck for those taking time out from virtual communication!!

Yep guys...I honestly think a 'Digital Detox' is as relevant as any 'detox'.
I did 1 day, yest, - Jan 2nd. Its hard work, i sat alone (i dont have tv - i have radio but that was not on either). It was kinda weird, but it needs to be done for the sake of our own minds. We must/need (or by choice), have a detox from technology for our own sakes. If it all was to go away because of natural disaster we must be able to cope with the world without a comp screen in front of us.

Thanks 4 the replies.
