I think I sound horrible. Sometimes I think I sound kinda like a boy. Urgh. I have a english accent but I wish I didn't have the essex accent. It sounds soo chavvy and horrible. I would rather sound a bit posh or something.

God.... my accent is hard. Scottish, Dundonian, East coast...... I hate pure Dundonian words..... I try and speak "English" with a twang of "Scottish" but my "Dundonian accent" shines through now and then. We sound like Neds believe me HappyCheeks. I love the English accents!!!

A lot of people don't think I am from Dundee as I don't speak broad Dundonian it's really handy cause my family are from all over Scotland. Got family from Glasgow and believe me have you ever heard a "Wedgie" speak? Lol!!!

You tube places in the UK and you will find we all have "weird" "horrible" "funny" tones of voices and accents

I hate my voice too. I don't have an accent, but I do sound alot like Marge Simpson. Except I mumble too, so I sound like a mumbling Marge Simpson.

Sometimes I am so self conscious that it makes me not want to talk in public at all.

hehe I have recorded myself before and it does make me cringe as well. But I'm starting to get use to my voice after listening it so many times.

Hello HappyCheeks. Honestly, I don't like my voice very much either. :P lol I find that I sound like a 10 year old. (I'm 17 by the way.) It makes me wonder how some people can stand me. But whenever I ask my friends about my voice, they say it's sounds fine. So I guess they've grown used to it? :] Btw, I think your voice would sound quite well if I ever met you. I LOVE English accents. ^_^

Thank you I think I have a calming, soft voice. I don't think it's too bad.

I must admit that I am really lucky. I like the way my voice sounds naturally, but I am also a natural mimic. Put me in a place for a few hours and I will assume the accent pretty well.

It just happens.

I'm from a region of the US that has a profound accent (you should hear my family!) but people always are shocked to hear that I was born there.

Yeah, I hear you. I wish my voice was deeper. It just does not carry and one of the reasons I avoid bars is that I lose my voice trying to talk over all the noise. Fortunately, my New Yawk accent is not too bad but it's still there and is recognizable. Oh, well . . . there's not much I can do about it, I guess. Frankly, I have worse problems!!

i grew up on long island, ny...so i have a ny accent. spent about 7 years in michigan...when i was there people would say..."oh you're from brooklyn!" no. when i came back to long island people would say.."oh you are canada/wisconsin (heh?)" no.

either way..i didn't sound right...

now many years later i still have a touch of the midwest left in me...certain words it sneaks out...

i used to have to speak in front of large crowds for work...i hate the sound of my voice...(i think everyone does)...but i try hard not to listen to it...i figure if people were listening & laughing & paying attention & getting my message then that's all that mattered.
Thanks for this!

I like both! My cousins are all in Scotland, and so when I go and visit them I pick up the accent really fast. When I was with my parents, my cousin commented that I didn't sound as "Canadian" as my parents; and that was a good thing! lol, Perspective.

I think my voice is deep, but then I hear a recording and I'm like wth! I sound like a kid! I think I sound like a preppy 16 year old. I hate listening to my voice mail.

Personally I don't mind my voice until I hear a recording of it. I wish it had more of an accent. I hate the Southern Ontario accent, and can't wait to pick up the Maritime accent when I live there.

I am monotoned. I can hear pitch, but I can't emulate it very well. This makes me a pretty bad singer. (I also mumble and slur words.)

I don't think there is really an accent where I live/grew up.

I used to hate my voice, but now I am fine with it.

I have a mild Southern US accent, which I like. It's my laugh that gets me. When I first viewed footage of my wedding to Mike, I was embarrassed. I laugh like a mentally challenged walrus.
