I was talking to pebs yesterday and she asked me how I chose bptoo for a screen name. I have Bipolar II disorder and it seemed kind of appropriate.
It got me to thinking (ouch) if any of the rest of you have special reasons for choosing your screen names, and would you care to share them with us. I can understand that a lot of you wont want to, and that's OK. I just thought it might make for some interesting stories... bp "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away." |

I think it's a great idea bptoo. This name has less meaning that some other names I have used in the past but I will shate this one.
Foolish - Well I choose this name because I couldn't think of a better word to decribe my life. I am very Foolish and have made so many wrong and foolish desicions in my life that it seemed appropriate on how to describe myself. Sorry it's not to interesting but thought I'd share. I chose my screen name because my mental illness has turned me into a completely different person from the one I was before. I used to be very friendly, had a good (if somewhat twisted) sense of humor,
used to skydive every weekend, and went on many road trips with my fellow skydivers. I was great at my job, which I'd had for nine years, and was very confident that there was nothing that I couldn't handle. People trusted my discretion and judgement, and often sought me out for advice. Now I suffer from major depression, social phobia, generalized anxiety disorder, dissoiative disorder and I self injjure. I lost my job, and am in no condition to look for a new one. Skydiving is out of the question until I'm well, and most of my friends are skydivers. I've cut myself off from almost everyone and would prefer to stay in my house all the time. This change has occured in only one year. My t promises that I'll become myself again, but I fear that the old me is gone forever. Now I really am somebody else. |

oh sombebodyelse....
my name... well, think JLo. Only I had my nickname wayyyyy before she came out with that. I'll bet she was jealous and copied me.... heh heh! Being in the software biz, first initial and last name identify me more than "Lee Ann" does. I never really liked my name, anyway. I am not red and fuzzy with beady eyes. Pebs, I am still mortified -- can I once again offer an apology? Your name is really cute, especially in a Flintstone way! We are ALL going to be a-ok! __________________ thatsallicantypewithonehand |

Darkeyes. . .several reasons, in 8th grade my favourite teacher would read my poems and then help me with the order and other choice of words, one day the teacher wrote a poem for me about me and in one of the sentences he said "her eyes are darker than black. . ." he was at the same time trying to help me lift my low self-esteem. I kept that poem and if anyone ever wishes to hear what some people saw when they looked at an 8th grade kid struggling with life at that awkward age I can post it under the CC forum.
I do have darkeyes and yet light skin so I guess they appear even darker. Dad had beautiful blue eyes, I wasn't fortunate to inherit them. "Darkeyes" is also a title of an old Hungarian song which is one of the pieces my husband often plays, so that is how "darkeyes" became my name here Lately, they are very "tired" and "sad" eyes but that is a whole other story. Take care and stay well, "darkeyes" In giving advice seek to help, not please your friend SOLON __________________ |

Heidu is a combination of norwegian words. I figured since I was here I could use the language for something.
Hei means hi or hello Du means you So together it's "Hey you". Maybe not a polite way to address someone but I was looking for someone to listen and I didn't know anyone here. Heidu There is a time in life when you stop existing and start living. There is a time in life when you are given a new chance and new dreams. There is a time in life when the old is to be forgotten and the new embraced. There is a time in life......And that time is now. Well, when I first came here it was PlanningtoDie, which meant exactly what it said.......since I've been able to meet some very caring people here, I changed it to the current name, trying to "exist".
I haven't gotten to "live" yet, but at least I'm still hanging in there.......lol. DE, I would love to read the poem also. Mary Alice |

Bp, that was a great idea. I've wondered the same thing, and everybody's answers so far are really good.
I'm Rapunzel. I do have very long hair, even pretty much a golden color - not quite blonde, maybe just a touch of red in it, and it comes down past my waist. And I relate very much to Rapunzel in the fairy tale. The witch kept her to herself, wanted her to believe that she was the only one who loved Rapunzel, and tried to protect her from the world. That's my mother. It's not that she didn't love me, but she never would have let me go and have a life of my own. Breaking free was a fight, and both of us were deeply wounded. Fifteen years later we can get together and act like nothing was ever wrong, but she isn't really a part of my life. Ian, I always wondered what ferfa meant and was afraid to ask. Of course you don't have to answer that if you don't want to. Darkeyes, I have always thought your sn was beautiful. I would love to see the poem. Heidu, I got yours the first time I saw it. I hope everyone is having a good day today! <font color=green>"Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself, or from holding certain views which others find inadmissible" Carl Jung</font color=green> __________________ “We should always pray for help, but we should always listen for inspiration and impression to proceed in ways different from those we may have thought of.” – John H. Cool idea BP!!!!
Willow came from the tree in my back yard when I was a kid. I would swing on it's limbs and always enjoyed the graceful swaying. It also isn't easy to break one of those limbs because they are flexible. They call them "weeping willows"... and I have had my share of sorrow. Yet there is medicinal qualities in their bark. Aspirin is derived from the willow bark. The wood fibers are long and strong too. The wind blows and they sway instead of breaking. I can't think of anything else... except that maybe in mythology the willow is indicative of spirituality and wisdom. I kinda like that if it's not too eerie. __________________ Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in one pretty and well preserved piece...but to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, worn out and defiantly shouting "Wow! hmm I think this is a wonderful idea
I love dragons, and dragon lady would not be accpetd, nor would crystaldragon.. So I fiqrued I would use Lady_dragus, it is something differnt, but still means "lady of dragons" I hvae a inner strenght I very seldom show, and I often run from it, for it scares me to no end.. Hiding behind a dragon is to me the best place to hide, no one likes dragons, nor do they belive in them.. So my reality is safe, and I know they do nto exist, but I can still belilve <font color=purple>The way to love anything is to realize that it might be lost. - G.K. Great post bp! My name is more self-explanatory than some, but I do collect teddy bears, and also hide behind my fuzzyness sometimes.

Well I wanted to start off by saying to willow that if your a fan of wind and the willows you should watch Radiohead's Song Called "There There" it is pretty cool if you are a fan.
As for Rapunzel the name FERFA was derived from the word "FERFAWABBI". I often felt like a name change in my game called "Counter Strike" so every few months I'd try to come up with a name that I did good under in the game, so I go threw fast amounts of names until I finally have one awesome time and then the name usually sticks because it's a little superstition maybe or something? But having a good name made me play better. I shortened it to FERFA because I thought it was too long and FERFA looked better to me. Tried to check today if it's in the dictionary and it's not. This is really a great idea bptoo. Thank you for thinking of it.
First I have to say that I'm french. English is my second language. The first part of my name is in english, as you could see, "forgot". The second part is 2 french letters. e=etoile, n=navigatrice. Forgoten=forgot etoile navigatrice Forgoten=forgot navigator star Since I forget so often that my navigator star is in me, my innerself, I choose this name to remind me every time I will come in here, that I must not forget where my strenght, my guidance, my power is. So when I come in here and I'm too lost I say to myself: " Hey you! Have you forgot where your navigator star is again?" And I take a deep breath and I answer: " I guess I have, one more time". |

Rap, I think there was someone here a few months ago with the name FERFA, wow what a coincidence, don't come across that often these days.
At one site I once visited I went to register as "darkeyes" and there was one already registered so I had to use "darkeyes2", I guess as long as there is a name there is a will In giving advice seek to help, not please your friend SOLON __________________ |

Wow gang, this turned out a lot better than I'd hoped for. I really appreciate you sharing this with everyone. It's amazing the thought that goes into screen names, isn't it? I hope we hear from a lot more before it's over.
I wonder where the screen name Heather came from ? I hope everyone is having a tolerable day. bp "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away." |

MY name is simple actually, it's not as clever as many of the rest of you's meanings bhind your name. My name is a character in a movie called "Fight Club". I don't think it's appropriate for anyone who is easily triggered suicidally or SI wise.
Anyway simple that's what it is. Tyler |
