So in watching and listening to other people. So many of them are in a place where they say they just 'want to be happy'.
Is it strange that I don't want that? I don't want to just be happy. Occasional happiness would be great. I just really want to stop hating myself. I want to be able to understand other people. Blah

not strange at all, I sort of feel the same.
And I think once you can get over the stuff you don't like about yourself the happiness will follow, at least I hope so :/

Happiness is not my goal either. It sounds so new ageish. There is so much more to life than happy.

To my mind, happiness is fleeting - and more often than not if i put all of my energy into pursuing i end up feeling the exact opposite. Jimrat is right - there is so much more to life than happiness.

Happy is overrated. It is something momentary. Nobody is happy-happy-happy all the time and to aim that, you are gonna end up with a lot of misery.
One can be satisfied and at peace... at that is the most important thing. It cannot be easily damaged as "happy" can.
