Hi All,

Neighbor, who owns a 1,000 acres called a few minutes ago, and he is going to burn off his pasture tonight. Hubby is going with him to help. I guess that leaves me here, with the fire hose!!!

You have a frown on there. Does this make you feel lonely? Why the frown?

LMo -

I was a city slicker until four years ago, when it seemed like a good idea to move to rural Kansas. We were able to buy a house and 18 acres of very pretty land with rolling hillls, a large grove of cedar trees, and two ponds, for not a lot of money.

The cattle people here, like our neighbor, who is a really nice guy, think it makes the grass grow thicker to burn it off every year.

I'm really not up to this at 8:30 p.m. on a Sunday.

Thanks everybody for listening!!!!!!!

so wait - you really do need to stand guard with a fire hose? Is that how they prevent the fire from eating into your property?

You got it -- you are now qualified to live in rural Kansas.

I'm going to go take a peak outside.

I think this is also grounds for divorce, since my husband went with our neighbor to set fire to his property, and left me here alone -- halfway joking!!!

OK, went out and looked. Can see fire light on the horizon.

Last night we had high winds and lightning, with tornados 70 miles north of us. With the tornado scare, we lost track of Moses (10 Commandments) when he went to Midian, and listened to the weatherman for an hour and a half.

Thanks for listening and your support.

Eep EJ!! Here We Go Again! Here We Go Again!

I don't like that. One tiny bit, whether or not it (the fire) encroaches on your property or not. The smoke is bad for you.

*hugs*

I'm glad my neighbors never did that as a kid. But, my neighbors grew corn or pigs. My parents raced race horses. I hope we have managed to keep you company while he is away.

I have seen the fields burning in Kansas and it is a very frightening sight. I am sorry you are going through it. Take care.

Thanks, Bipolar Bear. Went out to check on things, and their were s-shaped fires as far as I could see off to the left side of our neighbor's pasture. It also looked like the fire had jumped the road, so I called husband who was with neighbor. They checked it out, and it was just burning in the ditch. No lights here, so I couldn't tell from our driveway. Anyway husband came home.

I am so glad your husband is with you now. That must be a relief. I hope the rest of the night stays uneventful
