I'm seriously doing research of how I become the way I am and why I act the way I act (I don’t act very normal at times). I have a strong suspicious of being Bipolar (I have the mania “high” part) and I believe I got it from my mother. I did a “The mood disorder questionnaire” off of http://www.dbsalliance.org/questionnaire/screening.asp and my results were of:

Your answers indicate the possibility of bipolar disorder. We recommend you print a copy of this completed questionnaire (using the print key on your Internet toolbar) and share the results with your physician and/or a mental health professional and that you request a comprehensive evaluation for bipolar spectrum disorder.

1. Has there ever been a period of time when you were not your usual self and...

...you felt so good or so hyper that other people thought you were not your normal self or you were so hyper that you got into trouble?
YES

...you were so irritable that you shouted at people or started fights or arguments?
YES

...you felt much more self-confident than usual?
YES

...you got much less sleep than usual and found you didn't really miss it?
NO

...you were much more talkative or spoke much faster than usual?
YES

...thoughts raced through your head or you couldn't slow your mind down?
YES

...you were so easily distracted by things around you that you had trouble concentrating or staying on track?
YES

...you had much more energy than usual?
YES

...you were much more active or did many more things than usual?
YES

...you were much more social or outgoing than usual, for example, you telephoned friends in the middle of the night?
YES

...you were much more interested in sex than usual?
YES

...you did things that were unusual for you or that other people might have thought were excessive, foolish, or risky?
YES

...spending money got you or your family into trouble?
NO (because I don’t have the money to spend! If I have then I’d probably say yes)

I could remember my mother staying up all night and cleaning the house, The ENTIRE house none stop. She had OCD. The house would be spotless. She would spend money like farmers milking the cows; this caused us to go into bankruptcy. She also had problem with shoplifting and was caught twice. She was even banned from going back to her favorite thrift store that she shoplifted from.

I’ve just found my mothers last psychiatrists name and address before her death. I was wondering… Am I authorized to request diagnostic reports from the psychiatrists with a copy of my mother’s death certificate? I know that the Doctors are strict into releasing medical information to people; it’s the matter with the law. Right now I cannot afford a lawyer to go to court with theses report papers… I hope theirs other ways around to get my mothers health records from her last psychiatrists.

Call the Doctor and ask. Can't hurt. Sounds like you're onto something.
