I joined but never posted. I am 60 yrs

1 mo ago I started getting severe aches in legs below the knee down to ankle and right above the knee, high BP 180/100 go to ER, nothing done all test ok, BP goes down

Go to MD given blood lab test for thyroid

Went to E/R again, they suggest periph neuropathy give me percoset for pain, follow up with MD. no doubt from lab results for ER, I get a call next day from MD to increase Synthroid 25 mg, take a 50 mg + 25 =the 75.

Next day I took sister up to get her bloodwork, so I still had my bloodwork form from doc for thyroid, I had the blood drawn again, next day I call MD again, they say now thyroid is ok, I ask in one day? I feel ok for one week

Back to ER again, severe pain this time, get the Dilada, Predisone and something else in IV, given rx for Predisone

Back to MD again, wants me to see Neurolgist, she thinks its my psych meds, can't get appt with Neuro till end of Aug with one guy or Jan with another, I am about ready to scream and says decrease the synthroid back to 50 mcg

Go to Psych doc today, tell him about all of this, they say its not my psych meds.

Meds are: Ritalin 10 mg 3x, Lamicatal 150 mg 2x, Klonopin .5 as needed, BP Lisinopril 2.3 mg 2x sometimes less, I drop at times, Naproxen 500 mg for arthritus & Synthroid 50 mcg

After leaving the Psych, I am so upset because of this wait to see a neurolgist, I took my 10 mg of Ritalin, 250 of Naproxen and 1/2 of ?

I am driving home and start to get calm, dry mouth, too calm and a bit drowsy. Ok I wonder what is going on, I'm thinking I was so upset I took 1/2 of a Lithium CR, they are same color of Lamictal I have, I haven't took Lithium for years but I know it calms me down so I keep it in my purse for just in case. I think the LIthium CR dose is 325 mg.

I was calm with no pain for 4 hours, now the pain is coming back. I took 250 of the Naproxen, 10 mg of Ritalin and my 1/2 of BP pill, I know D well my BP is going to go up with this pain.

I look up Lithum and read it has something to do with nerve centers in brain, so I wonder did that take the pain and anxiety away? You're going to have anxiety with pain.

I am thinking I should take 1/2 of the Lithium but worried about it mixing with the Lamictal, the calming down and pain leaving earlier could not have been from Lamictal or Ritalin being it never helped anyway, all I've been doing past 3 days is taking my BP Klonopin and a Percoset and go to bed, I've decreased my dose of Ritalin because it makes no sense to take with the percoset & Klonopin and BP med.I'm not one to keep going to bed. Naturally the MD is not going to give me any pain med's the Psych doc won't either, its like one don't want to step on anothers toes and in the meantime I am in pain, I'm not going to ER again.

I had to have taken 1/2 of a Lithium, I would never had got so calm and the pain went away.

I need suggestion, ok to take 1/2 Lithium, I am ready too, can't take this pain.

I'm sorry you are in pain and that you wait so long for an appt to see a neurologist. I understand that it's a bad situation and I sympathize with you completely but there is no way I could make the suggestion you are asking. I'm pretty sure no one else here is going to feel comfortable doing that either. If anyone did that they would have their post deleted and receive a stern warning from site staff. I'm sorry but this is a support board and nobody here is qualified to make the suggestion you are asking for.
You need to find a way to get in touch with the doctor who prescribed the lithium or with your primary care doc if you see more than one doctor. Your doctor is the only person qualified to give you advice on medication. I wish you well.
