Hi--I'm Roadie. I'm a bipolar alcoholic, been treated pretty successfully for it ... I'm sober with moods balanced for quite awhile, holding down a job, "functioning," etc. ... and yet I hear voices. I hear people calling my name. Most of the time, it happens at work--but now sometimes even at home. Sometimes out in public. If it's inside my condo, it's no big deal ... they're only the cats around. Other places though I have to make a decision: Is it real? Do I respond? If I make the wrong call, the consequences (especially at work) become difficult to explain. I'm telling you this long story to encourage you to go to the doctor. I'm dealing here with hallucinations, associated with anxiety. I don't know what caused you to get into your recent situation with your apparently locked door, but I think it's similar to my hallucinations in this way: Our pdocs can probably fix these (separate) problems--or help us find a way to fix them. I called my pdoc this morning for another adjustment to fix this problem of mine, & I hope you'll maybe give a little thought to seeing whether maybe you and I could be a bit alike with a simple solution to a common problem. If the bugs come back when you wake up after the wine, maybe you could send me a PM?

Hi DFLM...I hope you're feeling better today. Also hope you can think a little more about what might be the best idea in solving some things. Please don't let your thoughts get to you too much. Don't be afraid. You might have to agree to see your Doctor at some point. There is a way to figure some things out even though it may not seem that way now perhaps.
If you have a bad headache you take an aspirin right? And at the other extreme if you are having some alarming sensations and thoughts then you see a Doc who knows how to help with those sorts of things. Let us know how today is going. Hugs cheers and best wishes for ya...Take it easy Last edited by Anonymous32711; Aug 15, 2012 at 08:28 AM. |

PLEASE, see a doctor. Listen to your boyfriend -- it seems like he has the right idea. In fact, I really want you to be able to trust someone you believe has the best understanding of how you feel and knows how to make good decisions about your health. If you can find someone who fits that description, trust what they have to say about your situation: if they say there are no bugs, then there are no bugs.
And about the wine: holy crap, two bottles of wine?! I'm afraid that alcohol might not be the best thing for you right now. This summer is the first summer I have had experience getting drunk and drinking with friends. However, I have learned that when I get TOO drunk, my anxiety goes wild! I am afraid of everything and have panic attacks. I become afraid of people breaking into my windows. My solution is to give my boyfriend control over my drinking, and to trust him regardless of how much I have drank and how I feel at that moment. Just recently my BF's aunt received a call from her son, drunk, depressed, and having an anxiety attack, talking about how everyone has to die and how much that scares him. This is the exact same thing I babbled and cried about last time I got too drunk. The point I'm trying to make is that it's not unheard of for alcohol to create those unpleasant feelings. I won't tell you to stop drinking (I'd be SUCH a hypocrite), but I do want you to watch what you're doing! I'm so sorry and I hope that you begin to feel better. If you make sure that there is no open food left in the house, then I can assure you that you won't need to worry about bugs. Make sure that bags of food are closed, including the garbage can, and that there is no food left on dishes in the sink (wash them off.) Sweep the floor, maybe check under the fridge for food particles. Remove food from any room other than the kitchen and vacuum rooms you have eaten in. This will get rid of bugs, I assure you. They can't live without food available to them in the house. |
