Anyone familiar with this? I know that phenylketonurics cannot tolerate phenylalanine but this is different.

The article doesn't say how much phenylalanine can trigger ADHD.

Quote:
ADD/ADHD, emotional and behavioral disorders can all be triggered by too much Phenylalanine in the daily diet. Phenylalanine is a neurotoxin and excites the neurons in the brain to the point of cellular death.

Yes, read this from the Mayo Clinic:

I was surprised that others taking certain meds or with anxiety disorders and other types should not use it. I do think the ADD/ADHD might be stretching it a little but I could see it making something like that worse.

There is a warning on chewing gum that it contains phenylalanine. I wondered what that was all about.

Not sure about ADHD, but it does scare me when I hear about people drinking only diet coke during the day, day after day. It's just begging for a brain disease to happen.
