Watch out! I'm angry!

(I'm the care Manager of a 36 bed care home.)

Well, it came to that time of year to get ready for Christmas and put up those decorations as we have our fund-raising fete tomorrow. All staff on alert to get the halls decorated with trees and tinsel and all that razzamatazz! And what do ya know! I go to the cupboard to get all the trees and decorations out and there is NOTHING there!!

STOLEN!

What sad, sick bastard can steal Christmas decorations from the elderly???? Shame on those that stole our decorations! You sick creeps! How could you try to ruin 36 elderly residents Christmas??

My staff rallied round and dashed home and brought in decorations from their own homes so that my elderly residents have got some decorations. My staff are flipping wonderful but that isn't the point. The point is... NO ONE SHOULD STEAL FROM OUR SENIOR MEMBERS! NO ONE!

(End of rant.)

That is SO sad! There are some real heartless and cruel people out there in this world.

I hope that your facility gets some donations to make the holidays more festive for the elderly!

That is unbelievable! Is it possible they were just moved for some reason? Some people go overboard when "cleaning" too. Kudos to your staff for making sure they got their Christmas! Hope you catch your grinch!

Who'd have access to that cupboard Pegs? I assume it's in a room somewhere that's only frequented by certain folks right? Odd...Used[?]Xmas decor ain't exactly big on your typical LightfingerLouies lift list.

Misplaced? Moved for some reason? Glad the news tapered into good. Hugs P

Did you happen to see a scruffy green man with a heart a few sizes too small hanging around the cupboard?

It happens every year. Somebody steals Christmas decorations, holiday donations, or whatever they can think of to TRY TO ruin somebody's holiday. Luckily, the holidays are still important and meaningful without decorations. Not saying it's no big deal if the decorations are stolen, but that we have the power within ourselves to keep what matters during Christmas, New Year's, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice and all of them.

The tree and decorations were stored away in an uinlocked cupboard in the boiler room which is locked. Only staff have the keys but ocassionally we have contractors in who would have had access to it. If they had a key to the boiler room they would have got in the cupboard.

The thing is, I can't ring the police about this... Hello Officer, our decorations were stolen, um within the last 12 months sir and yeah the cupboard was unlocked. Don't think it would go down well!

I am getting a lock put on that cupboard door now!

But as it turned out, they couldn't steal Christmas, because all this time, it was there within you all.

I just talked to my sister a couple days ago, and she works in a doctor's office. Just a few days ago, the place, along with several other offices in the area over several days, was broken into. They really went to a lot of trouble, because one of the doors was metal, and they broke away whatever they had to. They stole not only money, but Christmas presents that were being kept there (including some socks...who steals socks???). What is wrong with people. I would understand if someone stole food because they were hungry and had no money for food (even then, there's soup kitchens and such, but at least they'd have a more logical reason). I'd like to see some interviews with people who "stole Christmas" and find out what they're thinking and how they rationalize it.

I'd be going through the contractor list of those who have been in to fix stuff in the boiler room for the last twelve months, write the owners/managers a letter about the situation and see if someone doesn't come to your rescue, either finding the person who did it (I wouldn't think they'd want that person working for them anymore) or maybe they'd donate stuff so next year there will be a cabinet full without the stuff from your staff's own stock.

It's great to hear that the staff chipped in and brought some of their own decorations so that the elderly could enjoy Christmas... but that's so terrible that someone would actually steal Christmas decorations from a residential care home for elderly! What is the world coming to?!

Some people have no heart.....no feelings for anyone other than themselves. I don't see how anyone could be like that.....but I'm glad your staff pulled through and I hope all of the residents, staff, and yourself have a wonderful Christmas! Whoever took those ornaments, they have it coming for them one way or another....just like good will come to you and your employees for the good deed ;-)

There you go again, hating on the Grinch! The poor guy changes for the better at the end of the movie (uh...spoiler alert?), and how do people remember him? As an awful, Christmas-stealing Grinch! Same thing with Scrooge!

Tsk, tsk, tsk!
