Paranoia is a symptom of several possible problems or can exist on its own as a result of meds or drugs, some past/current life events, etc. http://www.mind.org.uk/help/diagnose...tions/paranoia

too me it doesn't sound like the song is about paranoia. What makes you say it actually about paranoia?

Hmm not entirely sure, though I certainly can relate to the song. But yeah it does not seem to be specifically about paranoia though it is easy to become paranoid when feeling anxious and depressed which the song hints towards.

Great song anyways though.

"Paranoid" ~ by Ozzy Osbourne

"Finished with my woman
'cause she couldn't help me with my mind
People think I'm insane
because I am frowning all the time
All day long I think of things
but nothing seems to satisfy
Think I'll lose my mind
if I don't find something to pacify

Can you help me, occupy my brain?
Oh yeah!

I need someone to show me
the things in life that I can't find
I can't see the things that make true
happiness, I must be blind

Make a joke and I will sigh
and you will laugh and I will cry
Happiness I cannot feel
and love to me is so unreal

And so as you hear these words
telling you now of my state
I tell you to enjoy life
I wish I could but it's too late"

Imo, Ozzy is merely sharing that he's very hurt from falling madly in love. Major depression is what it sounds like to me.

I don't know sounds more like he couldn't connect with the woman in the first place because of the state he was in and she couldn't help and didn't understand him. I mean for all I know its a hypothetical song but that's the impression I've had of it.

I actually recall this song being torn apart by "mom" activists back in the early 80's. They didn't have the written lyrics back then, for whatever reason, and Ozzy went to court about the song. I think that it was because a teenager killed him/her self and Ozzy was accused for motivating them with this song.

So, Ozzy went to court and defended himself on the lyrics and what they meant. That's why this song has made that particular impression on me.

Right around the same time, another metal band was in court over a song they did as well. I think that band was Quiet Riot... don;t recall that song though.

Then I suppose that is how he explained it?...anyways I find it odd when people accuse music artists of subliminally messaging their fans to cause harm to themselves or others. Why would they want their fans to come to harm, considering without them theres no touring or concerts or people to listen to the music. Such is the state of the world though, but yeah I think quite a few metal bands have had simular accusations.

For me that song is about a person with depression. He cannot feel good no matter what good he sees. He thought a woman would make him happy but nothing can make him happy. He doesn't want to feel like that so he tries to distract himself but nothing works. For me it is about the greyness you feel when you are depressed and you can win the lottery and it wouldn't make you happy.

But a good song is good because everyone can read in different things.

But for me it is about depression.
Thanks for this!
