my daughter's dog, Boo, loves to fight. she brought him with her to Austin. he was jumping to attack my other daughter's dog and bit Stella really deep on her face. she had to have stitches...they did the body board....they had to take Colleen from the room. that's normal procedure because the parents always break down.

this is a dog that i've never, ever trusted. he was always attacking Tippy when he was old. he attacks anything that resembles a dog. i knew this was coming and had warned her. if he were my dog, he is 13, he would be put down. i like the dog and he adores me, but i have NEVER trusted him. i am just sick about this. i just got the phone call.

please keep Stella in your thoughts. love, pat

it does affect me also about the dog. he's a good dog, he just has a horrible temper......they didn't even give stella an injection for the pain before they sewed her up. can you imagine being almost three and strapped down to a board by strangers and then having them use that curved needle in and out and tying those stitches???? and no pain meds cause she's so young. a baby aspirin.

i do not know why she wasn't given an injection to numb her cheek. the ER where i worked always injected pain killers........she is totally traumitized by this. i talked to her on the phone and she is just terrified of Boo now. poor baby. i'll see her tomorrow.

Poor baby, I hope she is okay. I also hope the left over scars aren't to awful. I had a very severe face wound (from the inside corner of my right eye, down to my jaw line), I recommend, after the wound heals a bit, those Curad Scar Therapy Pads, they did an absolute miracle on my face.

I feel for the dog, but then again, when a person is as hurt as Stella, I feel no sympathy.

Of course she is going to be frightened, who could blame her. But with time her fear and physical wounds will heal and she will be able to trust another dog again.

Uh, I feel so awful for her, I don't know how I would have reacted if my child was attacked by a dog.....to be honest the dog would not be alive. It's hard though, especially if the dog has been apart of the family for awhile.

I hope she is okay....please keep us updated.

I was 5 yrs old when I was bitten (near the eye) by a dog. I had several stitches. I remember the experience very clearly. (I'll not get too graphic. PM me if you want details.)

The docs use very small needles. Docs are really careful with small children. I'm confident she experienced very little pain during each stitch. The nurses brace and distract the child . . . well, you know.

it would almost kill all of us in ER, when a child had to be strapped down.........but, i can imagine Colleen's feelings when she saw that. it's unlike most any other situation for your child. i was in Lampassas when i got the phone call......the drive on was a nightmare. we didn't know how bad it was then.......but it's all better now.
