So I finally went to see a doctor and have been diagnosed, which is a huge relief for me.
I have social anxiety, mild depression and self esteem issues. I haven't got any help yet because the adolescent unit would be no help to me and I'm not yet 18 so can't have antidepressants, but at least I know now. And the school has offered to put me on a part time timetable so I don't get to stressed, which is nice. And now my parents understand, so today has been a really good day for me. (Although I have been banned from coffee.) |

You don't have to be 18 to get antidepressants. If you feel that antidepressants would help you with your depression, you should be allowed to at least get an evaluation.

Im glad that you have a reassuring conversation with your doctor and have been diagnosed and that your parents understand too. Also glad that you are having a good day. And that your school is being supportive in your study load. See how things go and if you are still struggling with depression ask your doctor again about the possibility of having antidepressant medication and perhaps you will get a re evaluation then. Take care of you. |
