I just got this service back again after going quite a while without internet and I'd forgotten how slow--and Annoying--they can be. Have any of you found any tricks to speed up the forums a bit? I am playing with settings such as number of posts per page, etc., but have yet to find the right combination of settings for use with AOL dial-up. Also, if anyone can recommend to me a dialup service that is and works better than AOL, please do mention it!

hi Ink.........it is horrible, isn't it?

Go under System Information for AOL.....the Utilities. Look for the first box that contains numbers about your Browser Cache. Always make sure it is 0 (zero). There should be something that says Clear Browser Cache. Do this every time you are done online.

It will help a little to speed things up, but not a whole lot. Oh, and always make sure AOL compresses your graphics.

It's not just AOL, which I do have - it is dial up itself.

I use AOL dialup and yes, it is slow. I was extremely dissapointed in the slowness because I just bought a new computer. Heather, our computer expert told me it is dial-up itself that is slow and not my computer. WHEW! Does anyone here use AOL dial-up? Maybe one of these days I'll be able to get DSL or something else that's better than dial-up.

You get DSL or cable modem (which is what I have) and you'll never go back. It is soooooooo much better and faster.

I got a package deal from my cable company for my tv channels and high speed access for LESS than I was paying with a satellite dish system. I switched over and sold the dish. I get the same amount of channels too.
