You'll be okay. Just remember there will be people there to talk you through it and they won't let anything happen to you while you're in there.

Mel, tell them you want an open machine! The only thing that goes in it is your leg. You sit up on the outside. Trust me, I know!!!!

Hugs,

Jan

if you panic about not being able to move ie sit up, turn and so on let them know.

they asked me if I am clausterphobic and I told them no I have no problem with small places as long as its only for a few seconds to a minute or two. But if I am in any area where I can't move around then I start panicing.

They said for me the best thing would be the open one, I still would not be able to move around but its not like being in a tube. I lay on a table and the machine moves around at angles that always leaves the left side open completely open. No part of me entered any part of the machine where it was completely covered and my whole body was mri'ed from head to toe. they also had a female technition stand next to me and the table on the left where the two of us could talk. it made a bit of noice and I had to hold perfectly still for a half hour but other then that it went great. I just closed my eyes and listened to my music in my mental safe place and I was done in seconds it seemed.

I ssked for an open one and was told they are not as strong and good for some things as the closed ones. I survived by taking drugs prior and keeping my eyes glued shut until I was completely back out of it. I never "saw" myself in the tube.
They spray air on you, like in a jet, to make you feel like you are "out in fresh air" somewhere. ))))))) )Mel the big girl (((((

((((Mel))))

I feel for you ... I hate MRIs. They are confining. I know you'll be okay though - just breathe and it'll be over soon.

**hugs*** Take care

(((((MRB)))) make SURE that the tech KNOWS you are fearful!!! I am too... and used hypnosis to do my BRAIN MRIs! Have them tell you how long each scan is, and to tell you before the table moves which way and how far it will move... etc... it helps bunches!

thanks for all the support you guys! it means a whole lot to me!!! I survived the MRI without getting too anxious!!! The girl that was doing the scan was really nice and very informative... they gave me headphones to help drown out the loud noise.. the way they had my knee positioned was a little uncomfortable but because i cant straighten it out all the way it was the best that we could do.....for some reason i could feel a tingling in my leg and then my knee would have like a spam in it and it would move... she said that believe it or not i am not the first person who has said that....

all in all it wasnt that bad, but it was scary, if i opened my eyes the machine was right in my face, so i kept my eyes shut ( i still cant believe i feel asleep with all that noise)

so thanks again for helping through this... now we have to wait for the results!!!!
