OK - I am ready to buy me a lap top and I was wondering if some of you would give me your opinion on which ones are good..... maybe even supply a link for me to look at.

I know this topic has been talked about before with KD - but right now I just need some short advice and links to look at..... my mind is not computing to well today and my head hurts.

BTW - I will be using this lap top to come to PC, check my emails, working online with copy-paste and gaming.... thx.

Thanks...
LoVe,

Rhapsody - just a question.

Is it going to be stationary (as in on a desk) or do you want the ability to move it around? Depending on that you could look at the difference between a laptop and a notebook (as the notebooks are smaller and lighter).

I don't have much experience with laptops - the one I own is a Dell Inspiron 1150 and it works fairly well but is out of date now that it is a total of 2 (lol) years old!

Good luck finding one Laptop Computers

I've got a brand new Toshiba M100/400 Satellite.

Wireless, fingerprint reader for security etc.

Not sure how good it is for gaming but it's such a lovely little machine. I had a new one that crapped out VERY fast so I was upgraded ... actually so happy with this new one, it's 30% faster ... Toshiba have an excellent record so they must have been embarrased Laptop Computers

I think the processor is a Core Duo.

Hi Rhapsody,

Most laptops come with a wireless adapter, so you can use wireless internet rather than a landline (highspeed, modem etc). Basically just ask when you're buying if you need to buy anything else for your laptop in order for it to be able to utilize a wireless internet signal. Actually wireless internet will only work if you're in an area with lots of traffic (internet traffic) that has people actually using a wireless box. But technically you should look into getting your own wireless connection.

I'll check out the link above as soon as I post this. Laptop Computers

Hi again...

I just checked out the link you provided and all I can say is that its better than mine (lol) ... I don't have any experience with Gateway though. Might want to find out if anyone else does - and find out about customer service, guaranties, and general problems and whatnot that come up with that sort of computer.

I suggest you go to your local Best buy and let the people there help you find one to meet your needs. They are very helpful and happy to help. They also let you try their products on display and give you little deals with it such as every two hundred spent a free prize. Good luck and enjoy your new laptop they really are nice! Well, my husband and I personally would not buy a computer from Best-Buy...... bad history with them, they do not do so well with returns - even if it their fault.... at least not here in my town.
But I could go there and let them show me all the different ones and see which one I might like enough to buy from someone else.

Thanks....

Yeah, that might be an idea look their buy somewhere else because their titlle is also somewhat misleading! You do get points and then prizes and stuff but their prices are much higher often ripping you off compared to other stores. Once I got a product there for $24.99 when I could have had it at Target for $9.99!

Depends on so many things.

You can have wireless where you connect through a little portable modem or through your mobile phone. Or, you can get a wireless router (which I have) so you still connect through the phone line but you can use your laptop anywhere in the house.

Advice I was given:

Acer are shyt at replacing - they will keep trying to fix it if you get a lemon

Sony Vaios are the sexiest but very expensive to fix and not good value for money.

I was told to go for a Toshiba or an HP.
