"Your illness is lying to you"

"you aren't really ill if you don't need to take meds" (and other phrases that sound like pissing contest).

"kindling theory"

"brain scans show that..."

"anosognosia"

"people with MI have no control over our behaviour"

me: 'the truth is I can't for sure that I'll ever be stable enough to return to work/volunteer regularly/attend school and I am tired of fighting it. I just want to learn to live life and make it as good as I can.'
them: 'that's negative thinking. Who says you won't get better?'
me: *facepalm*

I hate the following:

Just pull yourself up by your bootstraps.

You need to just give your 24 hours to be depressed and then get over it.

It's mind over matter. Put your mind over depression.

Almost all cliches. I can't believe people are actually using them. I find myself using them at times and I think that they should not even exist. I also don't like idioms, which could fall under the category of cliches.

I think that the English language is much more complex than it is. There are so many words in the dictionary and the words have similar meanings. Sometimes I can't tell the difference between maybe and perhaps.

As a recipient of services as well as a provider the one thing that makes me cringe and show all the signs of my illness is when us as "recipients" of services are called CONSUMERS. It makes me think of the food chain... and besides consumers what kind of crap is that. Not all of us choose or are consumed by our mental illness. I know consumer refers to receiving services but still it just gets to me.

"Get Over it" or "get over yourself" these are words that I despise the most, I would have to say from the therapy side of things i'd say "unbalanced" is 1 phrase I hear too often

"You don't LOOK autistic."
"Oh, you can speak! You must be high functioning."
"You're so smart, you can't be disabled!"
etc etc.

Oh My Goodness Sila. I had a therapist who had her doctorate in psychology tell me and I quote, "You are far too intelligent to have a mental illness"

Yes. It seems to be the popular response in workplaces (& life) to Any concern. In other words "shut up, don't care, won't do anything about it"

"You can be/do anything you want" Of course this isn't true. Just because you like an activity does not mean you will be well suited to it.

"Stop whining about it"
"It's not the end of the world"
"It isn't a big deal"
"No one else has problems with talking about it."

etc etc.
