I am very bad at it..... my parents never complimented me, as I remember. I used to cry in kindergarten when the teacher used to play "The Ugly Duckling" but I was too ashamed of my tears to cry openly........ and I wasn't even ugly Giving compliments?

I have been burned by ppl who I cared about and who were warm and called me sweetie but then? I realised they didn't care at all. And I blamed myself Giving compliments? (and so did they. sigh. nope it isn't ALL my fault Giving compliments?)

why oh why am I writing all this today Giving compliments? Giving compliments? Giving compliments? Giving compliments?

Maybe you put too much meaning into the words?? Did you read my thread on "terms of endearment"?? "How much stock do you ..." Give it a read and read between the lines, too! Giving compliments?

LOL...I never rec'd compliments as a child either...ever! Now, I give them to people frequently, and I am always sincere! If I see something I like about a person, I usually comment favorably, be it their shoes, their hair, something they did or said. Why I'm this way, I do not know, since I never rec'd this kind of feedback growing up. Interestingly, I also married a man who never, ever complimented me, in 20 miserable years of marriage! Anyway, I go on happily complimenting people, and sometimes people actually compliment me as well! I accept this with graciousness!

Same here. My brother and I were just talking about something like this the other day. how can 3 kids brought up the same way be so different. We were abused by our mom and all are so different in how we deal with it now. I love to give compliments and I do mean them. I know how it feels to be treated wrongly and I do what I can to treat people the way I want to be treated.
Fuzzy you rock hon!

Hey there (((((seeker))))) & (((((bebop)))))

It's kinda weird isn't it ?? We're in the same position,

we certainly understand where you're both coming from Giving compliments?

As for my {{{{{Fuzziest one}}}}} Giving compliments? Giving compliments?

Darling, it is hard to learn to receive compliments, when you aren't used to them, our husband never did work out how.

Why do you ask? I am talking about ME and MY pain. Isn't that what we are all here for?

xo Fuzzy

ps please PM me if you wish to discuss this further, I do not wish this thread to be locked ........ just in case, ya know Giving compliments?

I always (nowadays) reply to PMs so long as they are respectful. Again, no dig at anyone here, just MY feelings.

PS I am not being mean, but I find your question slightly disingenuous (sp). We all know that talking about anyone here is against the guidelines, and so, none of the posters here ever do that!

I have found a pattern in my REAL LIFE.... yes I do have one Giving compliments?...... where I seem to attract slightly older women, who are a little (?) controlling. They seem to adopt me and are very kind and helpful. But then it goes wrong. I do not blame them.... it is the dynamics of the relationship Giving compliments?

Take care,
Fuzzy

I'm glad you are seeing that it wasn't your fault. It must be hard to learn to accept compliments now after so many years of being denied.
