I didn't really know where to put this question so I hope its OK here. I have had two foster kids for 3 and a half years now. Parents rights were severed and we are waiting for adoption date. With that said, one is 11 and one is 14. Both were diagnosed with add, and anxiety. Add depression in the first year or so for 14 year old. They have been in counseling, with different counselors, and now they are seeing a psychiatrist because regular DR's don't want to prescribe their meds. I think he's useless. He asked the kids two questions, and we're done. He never let's me tell him what's going on with the kids. However my biggest concern is that the older one used to watch horror movies at home, not here, and he has a lot of gory questions about anyparts in the movie that category? And he has been asking the same questions over and over and over through the years, about the same gory parts to the same movies. Dont even have to be horror movie. He finds the gory parts to any action movies or whatever to ask about. For example, the scene in Jaws where they come upon a turned over boat and a dead guys face falls through the hle in the boat? He must have asked me about that over a hundred times. All this wouldn't bother me that much except that when they first came I noticed some abuse of my animals. Then a few baby chick died for no reason, or were maimed. Like with broken legs etc? Then after I had them for two years their worker told me some of the things they seen etc. For example their moms boyfriend Had sex on the porch with animals. While they were out there. So now I'm trying to figure out what diagnosis would come close to identify why he thinks and asks about gory thoughts . Any help appreciated

I would go get them evaluated by somebody else. I would also make sure you get a session yourself with him to discuss your concerns and what you've heard and seen. There is nothing wrong with getting references and second opinions.

I agree with ocdwifeofsociopath. I would also look for a therapist trained in doing truama related therapy.
