Sorry to bother everyone, but I've been experiencing a thing for a while and I really have no idea what it is. Sometimes, at random times, I'll start feeling that I'm not actually in my body. I'm controlling it, I'm speaking with it, and it responds to emotions, but my thoughts feel very distant and I feel a bit like I'm floating. My body feels light as a marshmellow and I get a bit dizzy as well, and it's tough to comprehend things. I usually end up having to lay down or sit down and think for a while before I feel "back in my body" again. Not harmful, but odd enough that I felt I wanted to ask about it. Would anyone have any ideas of what this is?

Sincerely,
Rin

Do you feel like you are dissociating maybe? I don't really know much on that subject but it sounds like some of the descriptions i've read. Does it happen in general or when you're upset? But I agree lol, it does sound meditative though i'm sure its weird.

PS: I like your username lol

Yes, I would read up on the Dissociative Disorders and check out the forum and info on PC, as well as consult a professional if available. When I was very young, years ago, I had this diagnosis, tho I'm not sure it was correct, but I've changed in many ways over the years. Sorry I can't tell you more, but just check out the info and seek more support, I believe you'll find it and hopefully will help you! I wish you all the best. And BTW, meditation was mentioned earlier, another subject I'm not really qualified to address, tho I do it, I can see that aspect as well. But may not be your particular problem. Good luck with it and take care!
Thanks for this!

any idea of what this is....well in me it was called by many normal things as well as many mental and physical health problems. the most recent episode my treatment providers told me with in...... me..... it was a combination of sleep deprivation, anxiety, and multiple Sclerosis. The last episode I had was called a normal out of body experience due to stress coupled with poor diet because I hadnt had a chance to eat that day. there are many different reasons why this kind of thing you describe happens to me.

we can not tell you what this is with in you, only your own treatment providers can tell you that.....

my suggestion is if this continues to bother you contact your treatment providers. there are diagnostic ways in which they will be able to tell you what this is with in you.
Thanks for this!

I get a similar feeling when serotonin levels plummet in my brain. (Thus also leading to my major depressive disorder.) If you're on medication, you might want to talk to your doctor about that.

To address the meditation thing that's coming up, it's definitely not good to get dizzy or have trouble comprehending things during any kind of meditation.

Thank you for the replies. I will read up on that, to see if it sounds like what I've experienced. Meditation, though I have done it, isn't quite the same; meditation is more of a calm in my case, not floating. Webgoji, you said an interesting thing about serotonin levels; I will also look into that, so I appreciate the mention. I'm not on any medication, so I don't think it's causing the problem. Thank you again for your help!

Sincerely,
Rin
