I was thinking, because my therapist tends to talk to me like I'm 5. Anyway, is age important? Is it really representative of your maturity, etc? Or does age not matter..? Thoughts?

Both.
Maturity isn't dependent necessarily on chronological age. Life experience though is pretty dependent on age. Does that make sense? My son may be mature for his age, but he hasn't had the life experience that just comes with time. |

Therapists always do that. I wish they'd just use a normal voice instead of their soft cooing tones.

When it comes to doctors, age is not just a number. I want a doctor who's mature and has had experience.

As Oscar Wilde said, after 25 we are all the same age.

Its definitely just a number. People never believe how old i actually am. I look younger and i love to have fun and play with kids, which apparently, people "my age" dont do...also i get excited about things, like rain and sun and flowers and birthdays and christmas morning, things like that. Yet i know some people my age and even younger who act old, boring, dont want to have fun.

Regardless of the answer to this rather philosophical question, your therapist shouldn't talk to you like your five. They should be able to gauge your maturity and place in your life and meet you there. You are a partner in your care, not someone there to passively receive knowledge. Treating someone like a little kid is one of the ways we invalidate them, and this only serves to deprive them of agency and without, dignity and room to make your own decisions and act on them, it will be difficult to recover.
