Brain and Development affected after Child Abuse | Mind Forums
Makes a lot of sense to me, I thought I'd share this with the community. Our developing brains become damaged by the trauma and stress of the abuse. I've been abused a lot, no wonder I have so many mental health concerns, the part about victims having making goals really clicks with me, I have a hard time with goals and sticking to them. Child abuse has been called the tobacco industry of mental health since it causes so many problems down the road. I also posted a video series about this subject called The Bomb in The Brain. The abuse also creates holes in our memory, which explains why some of us do not even realize we were abused we lock those memories up into parts of our brain which we cannot easily access. Because they are too painful to recall. This could also be why studies done on drug users brains show brain damage. Many people who abuse drugs, were also abused during childhood. ![]() ![]()
