Friends,

My cat, Snuggles, had a seizure last night. We got him to the vet today, who gave us some medicine to give him. He is resting quietly. The doctor doesn't know if Snuggles will make it or not. As some of you may remember my "Cat Chasing Deer" post awhile back, Snuggles is that cat.

Thanks for any prayers and support you can send.

Husband is especially stricken by this turn of events.

EJ

Thanks, Beth and Jan.

While all cats are special, Snuggles has a special history. He just showed up on our porch (we live in the middle of nowhere), on Christmas Day a few years back.

I thought my husband was teasing, when he said, "Did you see the cat on the porch?" I said, "You're kidding right?" He said, "No." At which point I ran to the kitchen window to see for myself.

We brought him in, because it was a very cold day. He grew into this really tall, really long, really handsome cat!

Thanks everyone for your caring thoughts and prayers. You now how critters just have a way of crawling into your heart.

I have a big huge hug & lots of prayers for Snuggles. It is rough when our babies end up having something that is hard to control like seizures. But they do have meds that really seem to help. Hopefully it is only a one time event. When Snuggles chased the deer, did he get a head injury? I know that when we picked up a dog that was crossing the huge busy street & my husband grazed him & sent him sailing, the vet told me that sometimes when animals have a mild concussion, they can end up having seizures after that.

Hopefully it isn't something seriously wrong.....but no matter what, I know that watching them go through the seizure is stressful for us parents.

He has great parents, & know you will give him the best possible care he could ever want. It is awsome how he came into your life. He knew who to pick for his parents.

Hugz & kisses for Snuggles,
Debbie

Hi Sky,

As many pets as we have had over the years, this is our first experience with seizures. Our vet said with Snuggles it is caused by a virus.

Debbie,

Thank you for the info about the car grazing incident. I was hypothesizing what could have happened to him. Snuggles was on the porch Sunday night, when my husband found him having the seizure. One of my theories is that he had been grazed by a car, but had made it back to the porch.

He is really an amazingly beautiful cat. Long, tall sleek, jazzy striped coat, big head, almost always with a happy expression. Two of my other cats here parented him upon his arrival -- so he had a "mommy" and a "daddy" here.

Will keep you guys posted. Thank you for your support!

Tanya,

Thanks for asking for an update.

Snuggles got out past my husband yesterday. I was at school today, but husband saw him outside today and tried to pick him up. Snuggles, however, took off like a shot. Husband said before that, Snuggles looked wobbly. I wish he would come back in and rest, like the doctor wants him too. Rascally cat!!
