Im on SSDI. The only problem I had with actually going to the Social Security Administration to appy for my SSDI was the waiting. you go in get the form then either fill out the form there or take it with you and return it when it is done. once it is complete you are assigned a Social Security caseworker and meet with them (which is where you are at the moment in the process?)

At the meeting the caseworker will go over your application to make sure you have it all filled out and maybe ask some questions so that your application will be as detailed and complete as possible.

Once that is done you go home and carry on with your life for anywhere between 2 months to 2 years. along the way you will recieve a paper in the mail telling you which doctors they want you to see. For each one of your listed doctors there will most likely be at least one of their doctors that specialize in the same area. This is so that they can have a non biased view of you and your problems by having both your doctors and theirs particiating in evaluating your problems. Sometimes this also means they need more information because what you supplied does not get you the grant so they are giving you an opportunity to add more information that will put the grant through for you. The more doctors you go to the more information they get and in turn the more elligable for SSI SSDI you may be.

Then when they have all the information needed they will send you a letter of acceptance or denial of your application.

It took2 years for my grant to go through but I have known people whos grant went through at 2 months into the process so don't get frustrated if you don't hear from them right awat. Sometimes it takes time.

I'm not eligible for SSDI, but I encourage you to persevere. Hopefully your T can help you suffer through getting out of the house and going and filing like you need to. Self care if often difficult. Good wishes!

I've done my forms online and have been in touch with my caseworker over the phone...that's as far as I've gotten. I, hopefully, won't have to see more doctors.

Best of luck SSA fileing
