A while ago my credit card company called me saying they thought there was a security breach. That someone was trying to access and use my credit card. It was cancelled, a new one issued, and I put in a fraud alert.

I thought it was over though bothersome and creepy. Then I just found out that someone has somehow gotten hold of my bank card number and has actually almost emptied my bank account, with like tickets to Africa!

All of this was international so clearly not me. I don't get why the bank authorized those purchases when I had a fraud alert.

Anyway, I feel creeped out and kinda violated by all of this. I don't make much so I feel someone is taking advantage of someone who is disadvantaged. And I have a suspicion about who it might possibly be.

I'm busy so all this extra stuff is a hassle but it has to be done right away. I have automatic payments due mid month and the bank will take a while to get my money back so I might not have sufficient funds to pay my bills.

It is more the emotions that I'm feeling that are really getting to me. I've been of victim of many things and this is slightly triggering though not at that point yet.

Any way you can test out this suspicion, without letting the person (?) know you are checking? I mean, something like what the White House did recently, I read -- feeding the suspect wrong information and then seeing where it came out?

I thought about contacting this person in some way or other, possibly to say that this was going on and she should be careful herself but not to worry because I was filing a police report. What makes it difficult it that it's international, which is one of the reasons I suspect this person since she is the only one oversees who has my real name and some of my information because I rented her apartment, but did it through an agency. I could write her that I was suspicious of the agency leaking info and see how she reacted.
