I know after my psych day program, I made a real effort to make sure I always looked my best, and presented my best public game face, even if inside I was a mess. I know my thoughts since then of hating myself and of thinking of suicide are very counterproductive.
If I can truly change my thoughts away from the dark, will that be a fix for the problem? |

Finding strategies to turn your thoughts will help. It isn't a "fix" in that you still need to understand what is causing those thoughts. A good way to start is to practice mindfulness. Not necessarily meditation. Observing your thoughts, actions, feelings in the moment is a great way to start understanding.

One thought won't turn a ship around, but it's a start, and better than a kick in the shins

I don't know if you can think yourself crazy even. Even if I really try to be paranoid I doubt I will start hearing voices and stuff.

I don't see it as a matter of just thinking more positively to become in health. It's about rewiring the thought processes until they become second nature, or with a pause/think, reword your thoughts; that process leads to being in health. Remove the dysfunctional thought processes, to more functional thought processes, that, is, wellness.
