I sometimes have nightmares about when I was a child. Is there a possibility they can be true and that they are in fact repressed memories?

There are probably whisps of true memories, as they are included in your subconscious, but more than likely it would be representations of how your childhood affected you with abstract details linked with adolesence and all the time that has passed from then until now mixed together. Since you have grown since then I believe it would be unlikely to recover complete memories with no additional detail added by your mind into the dream. Same with me lately, that's why I'm up so late lol.

I began to have dreams of childhood when I went to tx yrs ago---some were much like things that occurred, what I came to believe is that the emotional aspects of the dreams were certainly representative of how I felt, or must have felt ...the actual content was probably more metaphoric...though I must say, some seemed quite like real memories. I don't think we can ever know about this...they are important though; and the questions becomes "Why now?" ...what triggered them in the present? Do they help you understand some things about yourself? What can you do with this 'material'? I used to collage some of those dreams, and found it therapeutic, as I never really knew what it would end up looking like in the end...and the collaging was pleasurable, distracting, creative...
