I am getting really PO'd at AOL today. I'm not having a good day, so they really aren't making things any easier. I wonder how long I'll be connected this time? I'm lucky I've made it a few minutes now! I have a very slooooow dial-up connection, so I'm used to it taking a few minutes before I can really do anything. You know, I better post this like fast before they go an disconnect me AGAIN. $#@!*&%

Awww! I'm sorry, Inkblot. Don't know why, but I never have that problem. America *NOT*OnLine And I've got AOL dial-up, too. America *NOT*OnLine Could it be your modem?

I have a very slow modem (9600 bps) so all I can think that either AOL has it in for me, or maybe even all the people with faster modems are taking over the network, making me get kicked off for being too slow. Usually AOL tells me "Goodbye" before my modem disconnects. By the way, I am still here and they haven't _____________ yet since the last time!! America *NOT*OnLine I'm afraid to say anything for fear of jynxing myself, so fill in the blank yourself. America *NOT*OnLine

At 9600, you're way too slow, Inkblot. I used to have dial-up and it drove me crazy........too long downloading and getting kicked off.

I found a deal with my cable company that included high speed access, and a whole new world opened up........it was wonderful. I still get booted, which AOL claims "should never happen with broadband".......yea, right.........and is slow sometimes.

Tonight was horrible for me as well.

hahaha I used to be on Always Off Line and always had trouble one day to the next! I got some free months when I was able to contact them daily and complain... which was far too stressful.
AND I was using Win 95! I switched ISPs still with win 95 and things immediately changed. I know plenty of ppl with very slow computers and do fine with other ISPs.

Go online and search out ISPs and prices. Get free Yahoo email space, and then you can bounce month to month or whatever with the ISP with the best price and service! You might even be able to get 1/2 price with AOL because you cannot access all they are charging for.

...I can misspeak like the best of us

I don't know, i'm still saving all the AOL cds I can get my hands on. I'm building a montague called "Computer Geek Kisses Computer Geekess" Therory has it that when certain parts of certain CDs are played, the road to Nirvana is revealed. I hoping that my piece will give hope for peace and harmony to the next generation. Or maybe it will just make my wall look kind of cool...

LOL You know, I did call AOL last month. I did use their free month of service and wanted to cancel so I wouldn't get billed and I could try another free month with someone else. You know what AOL did?! They gave me * FREE * service through June! I didn't know whether to like it or be mad, because I really was hoping to try someone else for free, like two companies at the same time. Thought that eventually I would decide who I liked best for service and price. At first the person at AOL was going to continue me through March, but after I was still hesitant, she said through June! That comes to 6 months FREE AOL! America *NOT*OnLine Not many would complain, I guess.

OMG, Bp! Maybe I am that computer geekess, LOL. I am guilty of saving all those free AOL cd's. I thought, there must be [i]something[i] that we could make with these! They are just too cool to build and make stuff with. Hang from the ceiling, or whatever. I've got so many for my kids. Besides, I could be a computer geekess because I recently impressed--ahem, royally P*O*d our IT guy at work. I kind of know my way around the computer. He only *thought* that he had some programws and stuff blocked. I kinda did my thing and showed everybody else how to do it. Our boss liked it, too, and was also involved!! America *NOT*OnLine That IT guy will never forget me. I think that I have been forever tatooed in his memory and placed on his "up a creek without a paddle list", LOL.

You can sell them to Hildy and let her plaster them all over her next "victim's" guest room wall America *NOT*OnLine

I finally broke down and disposed of mine... I have to do that once in a while so that my house doesn't end up looking like my dads http://www.idexter.com

I save them too. Here's what I intend to do with them: http://www.interweave.com/spin/projects/cdspindles.pdf , not that I need that many spindles or have even made one CD spindle yet. But I really ought to - I hear that they are pretty good. I just need to get some grommets.

I keep the old cd ISP for the programs. My old computer will not operate with the newer ones... above "7" on average... I don't wish to lose the option of going online with anyone just because they refuse to accommodate those ppl with the average computer at home.

I saw a neat use of ruined cds... jewelry. It was really neat, rather holographic the technique. I'm sure some crafter has a book out LOL!

As for AOL and all of them, yes, just communicate with them. IT doesn't cost them anything to KEEP you, it costs them -advertising wise- to LOSE you. You won't receive if you don't ask. If fewer ppl would put up with their shenanigans, we would all get better service.

Kinda of my attitude here. How many of us can no longer get into chat here? I prefer the chat room. Posting isn't my forte. I personally plan to quit before he gets to 4000, because no one is listening to our complaints (and not replying intelligently) about the chat rooms.

C ya?

Hmmm... methinks ya'll need a new computer or a new something. I have never had any problems with my AOL connection in the 10 years I've been on AOL. The only time I got booted was when I had call waiting. That would do it!

As for the chat room, I don't have problems with that, either. America *NOT*OnLine Thing is... I don't go into chat very often. Have you people that can't get into chat checked your Java program? Has anyone tried using their Internet Explorer with chat? Have you brought the problem directly to the attention of Doc John or CAMW?
