Back in Feb. I had a CT scan for extreme abdominal pain caused by my diverticulosis. I paid my % of the cost of the scan when I was there. A week later I received a bill for $12 and a week after that the bill had gone up to $46. I paid the bill and thought nothing about it.
Well it's 9 months later and I received yet another bill for $135. On the bill I couldn't understand where this $135 was coming from. So I called the hospital to have them explain to me what the bill was for. They came back saying it was a facility's charge. ![]() I slammed the phone down on the guys. It took him 30 mins to come up with facility charge?? I don't think so !!! So I looked up on my insurance website at the claim in question. From the website I had paid all I was required to pay. So I called my insurance. While I was on the phone with the woman, she called the hospital. I sat on hold for what seemed forever. She came back to me and told me I owed them nothing and in fact they had already over charged me and owed me money. I never checked the bill very close when I got it. It was confusing to start with. You get a bill and you don't question it. Just pay it so not to hurt your credit standing. I'm so glad I stood up for myself and called and asked questions. I would have never done that a few years ago. I just wanted everyone to realize that hospital sometimes try and slip one in on you when they think you aren't looking. They waited 9 months to slip this bill in on me during the holiday season??? There are only 2 hospitals where I live. I can say now for sure which hospital I will be at from here on out. That's my vent and rant for today Lisa
