hello im new to this site and am in desperate need of answers.after years of seizures mostly mild,my wife told me she was diagnosed with something called pnes.i looked up what i could, but it really didnt help.she takes around ten diff meds a day ,has migraines atleast three times a week along with narcolepsy.we visit the emergency room atleast twenty times a year not to mention the dr appts.and there have been several times i seen her and was afraid the worst was going to happen.we have a two year old girl and i really need some support on how to cope and also help ease her pain.the several doctors we have seen think its all in her head and one diagnosed her with vertigo, another told her she was bipolar and recomended a psych eval which she took.but over all she is considered normal.she was employed by our local hospital, but after so many seizurrd and other medical issuse, she decided to apply for disability.problem is most doctors think its all in her head while other doctors may be too afraid to give their stamp of approval.is there anyone who can help?any links or advice would be great. thanks for reading

Hi mike79,
I'm sorry to hear about your wife's issues with PNES. You may find some help and more understanding about this here - What is PNES? - Psychogenic Seizures Community It can be a difficult discussion to have with your wife, but it seems it would be a good idea for her to get to a therapist while also seeing a neurologist and co-ordinating their care of your wife. I wish you both well and hope you can find the support that you need and deserve. |
