Today we finally have power after going a week without it. We've been pretty miserable and stressed out. The power is still unstable and we are expecting another Winter storm today. I hope we don't lose it again.

I live in Greene county Missouri which was hit the hardest according to the news. We have damage to our house and yard from ice and falling trees.

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Ozzie,

I've been thinking you were one of the people who got hit hard with the last storm.

It has started snowing here already today, even though our weatherman said it was supposed to start between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

You are in my thoughts and prayers!

Hugs,

EJ

How did you stay warm when the power was out? Do you have a fireplace? So glad that you can be warm and safe again.

Thanks everyone. I'm warm now. Pebbles, I got to see Phillip today! Thanks for the wood, Sky. Ice Storm We had to pay $70 a day for wood to burn in the fireplace.

The stress really got to me. I'm a mess emotionally. Need some therapy or a new life. It was really hard being cooped up in one room with my husband, the dictator.

Glad things are getting better for you Ozzie.......it has been pretty miserable over here in this corner of Kansas too but we were able to keep power most of both storms thankfully. I'm tired of winter already!

Stay warm Ice Storm

I'm glad you got the power back! I've seen ice storms on weather programmes on the TV and they look pretty scary (and very cold!) Ice Storm

glad you got through it relatively unscathed ozzie. aren't there laws against price gouging during times of state of emergencies? not sure if your state issued one but $70/day for wood! yikes!! out here a cord of seasoned mixed oak/madrone goes for about $350.

good to know you're safe and as sound as possible given the cabin fever Ice Storm

any possibilities for therapy coming up?

hmmm I was thinking that the $70 a day represented how much wood it took to stay warm! Wow a cord is so expensive now eh? I remember the days when I used to cut and split wood...loved it! Especially when the days were cool (Like in October) and the surroundings beautiful...long before I needed the wood.

Wish the north would consider putting utilities underground so they aren't affected by ice and snow.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I'm sorry to be so late getting back to this thread. We now have snow and severely cold temps but we have power. Ice Storm

Our yard is still littered with large limbs, some the size of half a tree. The guy who said he was coming to clean it up hasn't showed and the Insurance adjuster hasn't showed yet either!!! You should see the streets around here, they are all lined with limbs waiting to be picked up. The city just signed a contract with some company for 2 and 1/2 million to pick up all the limbs in the city. Those of us in the county may be waiting a long time yet.

It's very sad to drive down the highway and see the top limbs of most trees broken off. They all look so strange.

Since the Insurance guy didn't show up, my husband finally climbed up on the roof the other day and discovered that a limb had fallen like a spear through the roof into the attic. He had to place something under there to catch the rain/snow until it can be repaired.

Maybe I'll post some pictures soon. Thanks for caring everyone.
