I thought I'd share a little tip that I use for multi-tasking on the forums. If you've been in chat, you know that the forums page is inaccessable if you've got the chat window open. So here's what I do. When I first log into PC, if I have any private messages, I click on the pop up box and that gives me a second "browser window". I read the messages and then I have two windows open that are on PC. Now I can chat out of one of those windows and on the other one, read, post, check out pictures, send PM's, etc.

If I don't have any PM's, I open up a second "browser window" by going all the way up to the top of my browser above the "back" button. I click file, and select "new" and then "window". You can also push the Ctrl button plus N.

When you have two windows open, you don't have to log out of chat if you want to go check out a post or the gallery or send a PM. You can also go do a google search or whatever you want! Sometimes I have up to 5 or 6 browser windows open.

I just wanted to share this tip, because I see a lot of people logging out of chat to go something on the forums. Hope that wasn't too confusing....and hope it helps!!!!!

Oh something else I do! After I do all this to get two windows and I want to chat but no one's there, I'll log into chat and then at the top, I click the "Settings" tab, and select that the user entry/exit sound play. Hit apply and return to chat and then you browse the forums, but you'll hear when someone comes in!

I think that'll work with opening a new tab, instead of a new window, if that works for you, too.

Tabs keep you from having to open a new window/copy of your browser. I know Netscape and Firefox have them, and I think IE does, too. Not sure about the others. It opens a tabbed screen in the browser, and you can open up a separate page in it. You can open up several tabs at once. Look under your "File" menu, and you should see a command to open a tab, or there may be a sub-menu under "Open" if there's not an option in the main menu. I use Firefox extensions to color the tabs, which makes it easier to distinguish.

In Firefox, you just go to the "File" menu and then click on "New Tab." You can do that as many times as you need to.
