My brother in law is in need of major rehabilitation and I am trying to find a non profit one. If anyone knows of any that he can be sent to please let me know, it can be anywheres but in Louisiana b/c that is where he lives and we rather not have him do this so close to home. Maybe like a charitable rehab or something along those lines. Thanks

What kind of rehab do you mean? Drug and alcohol or mental health or both?

most if not all rehabilitation centers need whats called a referral. thats paperwork that the persons medical doctor or mental health doctor or emergency room physician, emergency room psychiatrist, or local hospitals mental health unit files on behalf/with the patient.

my suggestion if he wants treatment all he needs to do is go to his medical doctor (the one that treats his colds, flu's, sprains and what have you). that doctor has a list of treatment centers around the USA and can best help him pick a treatment facility that best fits his problem.

if you are trying to get him into treatment against his will (involuntary commitment) there are only 4 ways in which to do that here in the USA...

by court order (thats when the famly goes through the court system and a judge agrees with the family and court mandates the person into treatment and that person is usually at that moment taken into custody by the court and medically/police escorted to a treatment facility)

by being his legal guardian (the person has already been found incapable of caring for their basic physical and mental health by the court system so they now have a legal guardian that makes these decisions) if he has a l;egal guardian the guardian can contact his medical or mental health treatment providers who can tell the guardian what treatment facilities in the USA are best for him

by calling the police when he is a danger to himself or others. (suicidal/homicida....) the police take him to the ER and the ER assess whether he needs treatment or not.

if this is not a mental health or physical health issue but is a drug and alcohol issue he can contact any AA/NA groups in the phone book who can supply other groups around the state that is outside of his location. AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) and NA (Narcotics Anonymous) are walk in support groups run by other alcohol/drug users that are trying to gain control over their life. its not a treatment facility. for treatment facilities on drugs and alcohol he will need a treatment providers referral. they are not walk in based programs.

If $$ is the issue, you can work with the hospitals' and doctors' billing departments to get financial assistance. You will need to show copies of any paychecks, bank records, ... I had to do this about 3 years ago and I received a 95% discount on the hospital and a 75% discount on dr charges.
