I often have memories smack me in the face that are of pleasant things, and should feel pleasant, but are somehow associated with some awful thing and therefore hurt terribly. For instance, I might suddenly have a memory of going to summer camp when I was a child, which was something I loved. But all I feel is an incredible pain, because a relative I loved drove me there, and that relative has died. Memories that should be happy, are things that hurt, and they come out of nowhere.

I was just wondering if anybody else experiences this. Remembering bad experiences, I can understand, but hurting so much from memories of good experiences just doesn't make any sense.

Thank you.

ETA: Whoops, sorry for posting in the wrong section, and thank you for moving it.

I sometimes think that when good things are happening for me that often the outcome will be bad.

Yes This is normal as long as there is no hurt associated with these memories.
