Hello, I have recently been geting worsenng bouts of mental exhaustion/tiredness. Usually it doesn't bother me in a worrying way because usually the exhaustion is caused by something. Being in a social situation for longer than 5 minutes can cause me to be exhausted for the next hour or two, going to parties/family gatherings can leaving me being tired and draned for the day. Even leaving my house can cause me to feel weak and tired. So more often than not, I have a reason.
However, this last week (starting around Friday) I've become very exhausted and very tired for no particular reason. I haven't left my house since Friday (except for college on Monday). Tuesday night I slept at around 2am (which is normal for me) but I didn't wake up until 4pm the following day. And then I fell back asleep at 6pm and woke up about 3 hours ago. I'm in college tomorrow, which I am not looking forward to, then I am meeting my boyfriend afterwards. He's very understanding and I told him about the last couple days and he said that we can just sleep all day tomorrow if I want. So that's nice of him. I tend to just get called lazy by everyone else I know - especially when I don't have a reason/cause. But it makes me physically tired and slow moving and weak everywhere and it feels as though even the most simplest things to understand when I feel normal, become harder for my brain to process and such. My brain just feels like it doesn't work as well as it should - i.e. no coordination, very slow and I get simple things wrong/forget things. It's very problematic with college and exams coming up... Does anyone else experience these (sometimes sudden) onsets of mental exhaustion? |

hi minerva
well first i think it would be a good idea to go and get a physical and blood work to make sure there are no medical reasons for your exhaustion. lots of people have anxiety over social situations and such that you describe but i have never heard anybody that was physically exhausted by it to the point that you are describing. welcome to psych central. you will find we have several forums where you can post about your concerns and receive feedback from other members. you will get a lot of support here. again, welcome ![]() |
