My therapist wanted to explore why I picked the name DePressMe. So, I have been thinking...maybe it does seem negative. What do you all think? Am I just being too sensitive? Does it matter?

The day I signed up I was rather depressed...but really, I don't want people to think I am depressed all the time because I am not. I would describe myself as generally grateful, fairly happy and mainly satisfied with my path in life.

I don't know if changing a username is even possible or if I should even worry about it.

Feedback would be greatly appreciated...

You can change your viewed screen name.... pick a few choices (as the first one or two might be taken already) and PM DocJohn with the request. TC

Hi Pressy (there, how's that for a nickname? Feedback wanted about PC name...)

A lot of members here have screennames that reflect what they were feeling on the day they signed up. When I first saw your screenname, I figured that you suffer from depression. Its not unusual though, for people to express their dx in their screenname here since we're a mental health site. It's totally up to you if you want to keep it or change it. To change it, you go into your profile and change it. Then the new name gets approved by admin. You could drop Kimmy or Jan or DocJohn a PM explaining why you want to change it.

Its totally up to you!!!

TC,

~Rayna

I signed up as DenDensDaughter because Dennis is my father - who is probable the reason for many of my issues.

Every time I saw "DenDensDaughter" it made me feel awkward and sad. So I changed it to something more positive. Liberada. Spanish for Released. I see Liberada and think free or liberated. Makes me feel better.

I agree with everyone. Does the name make your bad days feel even more depressed? I like my frog because even if I am down It makes me smile which is a start to feeling better. There are others here that make me laugh just to see them. They "feel" positive or hopeful. Have fun what ever you choice.

I like froggie because it reminds me of how an internet friend always signed off at the bottom, "F.R.O.G." It meant Fully Rely On God.

I picked mine because it expressed how I feel about myself. I also think it's pretty. It depends on my mood as to how the name effects me - either feel sorry for myself or feel special. Mostly though, for me, it's just my pretty screen name.

What does DePressMe say to you when you're here? How does it make you feel? It could be looked at as either you being depressed or you challenging depression. I wonder if the name will change on your old posts if you do change it ...

I like your frog for the same reason. It makes me smile. I have a thing for frogs. I love them. I do paintings and drawings of frogs. They have been my main subject matter for the past 10 years.

Maybe you could choose a screenname based on that. I met a friend on another message board whose screenname is "grateful." I have gotten to know her by her real name since then. I've met her in person and sometimes call her by her real name, but I still call her "grateful" most of the time because it's such a beautiful expression of who she is inside.

I requested a new username. I picked ones that reflect who I am...but the top runner is one that is just fun and silly--its a nickname my boyfriend calls me. Hopefully one of them will be available. I am surprised at how happy this makes me. Waiting to find out which name I get is kinda fun too.

Call me weird, but I saw your name as possitive. Could be the way you have it written. The "De" gave me the impression that you wanted help with becoming UN-depressed. Feedback wanted about PC name...

Okay...now I have to think about it. I did not think of it as "de" pressed...like not depressed. That is an interesting angle. thanks.
