I am just curious. How many people here lived in the foster care system. I am a mental illness sufferer and just want to know if there is any relation.

I feel sometimes mental illness follows people that have been in the system, not always though. I was adopted as a baby so i dont remember much
Thanks for this!

Being removed from your family can for sure cause attachment issues, but the main reason for mental illness is being raised by dysfunctional parents and/or genetic factors. It's the family of origin not the foster system itself that causes mental health issues imo.
