Hi Everyone

what happens to people that continually steal from you? I guess nothing, they probably are laughing at how stupid i am since they can get into my home easily. I have changed the locks 3 times now and have a deadlock yet slowly stuff gets stolen (my clothes, jewellery, cookbooks, kitchenware, photos, linen, shoes etc etc) They dont take the TV or computers. There is no break and enter. They also swap things for something that looks similar and of a lesser value. Why would someone do that? Do you think they want to send me crazy? If so, why would they want that? Over time they have stolen a lot, it is slow. Recently i have installed a few cameras however they are not 100% reliable. I hope one day soon they stop. I wish no harm to them other than to just stop taking my things or get caught in the act. Oh one more thing, i have recently started to write in big black permanent marker on my cookbooks my name all over the books. They sound like they are experienced and know how to pick locks. Is there such a thing as karma? If so, how does that work?

Not certain, but some use the expression as a veiled threatkarma karma

I think it's off mistaken with the what goes around expression, yet meant as a way of living. Sort of like, good deads don't go unnoticed, and petty theft doesn't go unpunished. Some outcomes are beyond our control and desires.
Sorry that's continually occurring. How awful to live with such an atmosphere in your life.

Karma is for fools. I have seen an 11 year old boy pull out his own teeth because his self-loathing was so deep after being repeatedly raped by his mother's boyfriend. What on earth could a little boy have done to deserve being raped like that day after day?

The fact is, really good stuff happens to bad people, and really bad stuff happens to good people all the time.

The bad things that are happening to you are not your fault. My suggestion would be to file a report with the local police department. It's possible you're not the only one this is happening to and the police would probably know that and be able to help.

I dont believe in karma. I believe in life. Life happens unless you intervene. Sorry you are having a difficult time and hope it gets better Again, this is just my thought.

I hope you report this to the police department. Karma is like "someone steals from you, someone will steal from them". Etc.

Actually, Karma stands for action. Karma is the action that's committed; good, bad and neutral. The vast amount karma is neutral. Once an action is completed (like theft), it leaves a mental imprint that will "bloom" into an event later that will be similar; like the others said, theft will result money problems or loss of property or something like that. It's not eye for an eye though, the results are muddy at best because it's mixed with other karma.

Most important to remember is that karma RARELY affects us during the current lifetime. This means that the people that steal from you won't feel the effects until the next lifetime or a hundred lifetimes from now or much longer. This is why people can never understand what they've done to receive horrible occurrences like disasters or car wrecks; it's from karma committed in past lives.

And incidentally, wishing bad karma on someone has no effect on them. It's only bad karma that you yourself are creating.

I stopped believing in karma when a murderer was let out on parole here who now knows where his next meal comes from when innocent children in the world still don't, and I don't want to support a force that would punish people for things they don't remember in a lifetime they might be making much better use of. Suffering only begets suffering; treat an innocent cruelly and many will lash out, become unable to care for themselves, be unable to use their talents for the good of all, and many other negative consequences. Someone who was cruel to me yesterday suffering in their next lifetime helps neither me nor them.

I don't care if they stole from me when we were both in our 20's... anyone and anything that will give a baby a disease or an abusive parent is a bully and participating in the gratuitous violence that is the source of many problems to begin with. I come from a dysfunctional home where none of the four children are raising children in a dysfunctional home. The violence always stops when the chain is broken and never before.

OP, this sounds like the issue might not be with your locks. Either who has access to keys, who has access to your home, or who might have left a "backdoor" to let themselves in. Either that or your locks are not as complex as you're being told they are. I think it sounds a bit fishy.

So....what I hear you saying is I must have done some really, really bad **** in a previous life to deserve the horrors of this one? If that's the case, then stop the train cuz I want off. What's the point in trying to do good and work so hard to heal if there's some other misdeed in a past life I have no clue about and get to pay for in my next lifetime?

Personally, I don't believe in reincarnation, and while I respect those who do, I find the whole concept to be terrifying. In nature, everything dies in order to provide nourishment for new life. We are all made of the same elements that make up the stars, planets, galaxies, black holes, and maybe even dark matter as well.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, it seems against the laws of nature for us to return over and over and over again for the purpose of being punished for something we did a dozen or so lifetimes ago. I think all living things get one shot at life before returning to our original state as part of the beauty of the universe and all of God's other creations.

This is only my opinion, for what it's worth. There is scientific proof of how the universe works through the laws of physics. I know of no scientific proof of reincarnation but would be interested to hear about it if it exists.

Welcome to Psych Central. Sorry your things are disappearing.

Sounds like an inside job. What about moving to a new apartment? Who has the key? Did you change all the locks including cellar or shared doors with others apartment. What about a window with no lock?

It is sad to losing things, but it is an opportunity to let go of the things you cling to. Talk to your therapist and see if they can help you process this odd experience.

I can't really explain any further (I've gotten in trouble before for elaborating on this subject). But long story short ...

Yes, we're on a train caused by our awful actions in past lives and it's harder than heck to get off the train.

Now karma is only one set of beliefs. Of course there are plenty of others out there and we should investigate and find what makes the most sense for us.

thanks everyone for your responses. I wonder what i did in my past life to deserve this. Karma is not nice. I sit on the fence with all this stuff but i keep an open mind. Since all of this has happened i have installed deadlocks on front and back doors. I hardly use the back door and so it stays locked. The sliding doors now have locks changed and bars installed that can be locked. I have a security alarm system and have a few cameras installed. I surfed the net to try and find out how they are getting in and found that you can buy picks that pick locks and nearly all deadlocks are "pickable". Something about bump keys. If they know what they are doing its easy according to the net, scary stuff really. Oh, i have also padlocked both of my garage doors. This has been done recently so it will be interesting if more stuff goes missing. If it does, then i give up. I will call the cops and see what they think. These people are clever. They leave everything untouched except for what is in your cupboards, and they also replace things with other things of lesser value or that are similar. I hope to catch them soon or I hope i have scared them away with all of my security. There is one more thing i need to padlock and that is the electricity meter that sits on the side of the house in the front which is open to everyone. I have ordered a special padlock from the electricity company in which only electricity technicians have. I hope to get that soon.
I just want it to all go away. The worst thing they took were all of my personal papers, not sure what they were after, but i have changed all passwords and alerted all banks, they also took some of my handbags which had personal stuff in there too. I have alerted my credit rating place too. Unreal. Believe it or not, this forum helps.
