Hi I'm new here and I just wanted some insight. I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right forum but anyway - I am experiencing these sudden jolts in my stomach. They're similar to the way butterflies work, but much worse. From what I've looked at, its caused by anxiety. I've developed a sickening addiction to this feeling, and I wanted to know why. It used to occur whenever I released that an assignment or such was due immediately the next day and I hadn't started. Now however I get it at the slightest things. Why is it somehow addictive and is it caused by anxiety?

Hello LuckyIcecube
I am not entirely sure what exactly could be causing this - but I found a blog here on PsychCentral that does mention this in an Anxiety blog - "Stress anxiety is caused by a clearly identifiable event and fades as soon as the crisis is over. (Amusement parks make a great deal of their money by provoking this kind of anxiety. The jolt in your stomach when you speed down a roller coaster or when something jumps out at you is the fight-or-flight response in action. The rush of adrenaline feels so good, you want to take another ride.)" http://psychcentral.com/lib/understa...art-one/000297 Last edited by Crazy Hitch; May 13, 2015 at 01:24 PM. Reason: link |
