I've been having this for a while now (or maybe I've always had it), and it's starting to really worry me. Every day it's something new. Today, I confused hunger with tiredness. I thought I was really tired, and I kept drinking more and more caffeine, and it wasn't doing anything for me, and I couldn't figure out why. Then it finally occurred to me that it wasn't actually tiredness, but hunger. I was starving.
And yesterday I was having stomach cramps, but for some reason I thought it was a headache I was experiencing. Finally, after hours, I realized there was no headache and it was actually my stomach. This is just the most recent example... but it's something different every day. Basically, I experience a pain, or some kind of discomfort, but I can't tell from where in my body it's coming from. Does this sound like possibly depersonalization/derealism or autism/aspergers? I really want to know what it could possibly be (and don't say I need to go to a psychiatrist). Thanks! |

i dont think it has to be a mental health disorder at all. maybe you just have to get more in tune with your body. when you are feeling something, take a meditative moment and really feel your body and ask where that pain is coming from. evaluated yourself from head to toe and ask, am i hungry, tired, angry, lonely and really feel/focus on what your body is telling you,

Hello Ryan,
If you are someone that worries a lot, anxiety can overide all other signs of what you need. The other day I had a very stressful anxiety filled day and only realised in the evening that I hadn't eaten all day! Also everyone has different signs as to what they are needing, you would feel tired if you were hungry but anxiety would keep you going until your body gave you another sign. Might be worth having a physical from your doctor just to check your blood sugar levels. __________________ Pegasus Got a quick question related to mental health or a treatment? I used to feed myself when I was actually thirsty. The I knew I was feeling thirsty and not hungry. Or if I was out of sorts I would eat but all my body wanted was a nap. It takes time to work it out. When you feel something stop and ask yourself "what am I really feeling?" You will work it out. Maybe swap every second cup of coffee for a glass of water (I even have hot water from the kettle when it is cold). It can never hurt to get your blood sugar levels checked out.
Good luck. |
