Has any one heard of this NEWS today?
WASHINGTON (April 25) - For the first time astronomers have discovered a planet outside our solar system that is potentially habitable, with Earth-like temperatures, a find researchers described Tuesday as a big step in the search for "life in the universe." ......................................... life as we know it.
they are excited 'cause it seems suitable for life as we know it. what would life as we didn't know it look like? it could be all over... its just that we don't know it (don't identify it as such) (same thing pops up with 'intelligence' and with respect to whether computers might be able to think one day) life is a bit of a tricky notion too... |

One of our years occurs in only 13 days there. You'd age a lot faster, and guys would have to remember Valentine's Day every two weeks, LOL!

WOW!! - I am glad that so many people have enjoyed this post and information - sorry I was not around to indulge in the excitement with you all the last two days, but I was here in spirit.
P.S. Maybe this is the planet where all the Aliens come from - lol.  Can't wait to see what else they discover. |

the standards for 'life' (as we know it) are actually fairly low. bacteria count as living. viruses typically don't (though there is a great deal of controversy around whether they are living or not).
someone or other computed some probabilities or other and figured that it would be improbable indeed if we were the only planet with life (as we know it). *intelligent* life though... or *intelligent* (as we know it) life (as we know it) would be super cool... perhaps... |

 I wish we could make this planet habitable. Just my opinion is that thats why it was created but weve ruined it and we will have to answer for that. Im trying to do my little bit, by growing vegetables and recycling water and treating others decently. I think the key is in learning as much as we can about truthful things. Another planet well that just shows us how big the universe is so that part is wonderful.  Mainly we need Rhapsody and Harmony here and now.  Rhapsody you took my mind of my problem.
