I prefer silence, even when there are other people around. Talkers drive me insane, mostly because the discussion is usually inane and unproductive.

Please don't take this personally. I'm a recluse. Silence is the norm for me.

What do you prefer?

I prefer silence, unfortunately I married one of those non-stop takers. He drives my anxiety to the max.

Overall I prefer silence, unless I'm going to be performing some boring, repetative task for a long time, at which pointI like a little of music.

I wouldn't want to do anything all the time; variety is the spice of life.

I need music or radio or anything but so its not silent. When it's silent my mind plays tricks on me and I think I hear things that aren't there. I have very sensitive hearing so I even hear the electricity in a bulb or cable box or anything. Drives me insane. It's so irritating.

I second monkeybrains21.

Personally, I choose music. Different types, depending upon my mood & what I'm doing. I, too, am also extremely sensitive to sound. Which also applies to sounds that I like, actually. It can be a real pain to be so sensitive!

I chose talking. Even senseless chit-chat is relationship building to me. I get to know people on many different levels though talk. Why waste my time with Frasier instead of getting a stronger understanding of my son's day? ... or whatnot.

Other noise, like music or television, just distracts me away from working on relationships and I'd rather do something more important. Of course I often default to television because I can't have talk or silence; might as well catch up on Shark Week.

I much prefer silence. I once said my favorite noise is quiet.

My quiet is live in the middle of the woods might hear a bird, chipmunk, or wind quiet. Not listen to the siren, neighbor sneezing, or walking above me quiet. Been there, done that, much prefer real complete silence.

Keep tv on most of the time.
Keeps the anxiety distracted.
Half the time I sleep with it on.
