Hi, i have been trying to get an answer to this for years now, id like to know if it could be labelled as a disorder.

i am smoking cigarettes, but it probably could be linked to other addictions.

So my question is - Can cigarettes affect your whole stability, mood, and self anxiety etc?

Id like to remind you that i was a healthy guy before i startet to smoke, no disorder, but very self observant. I read a few articles that cigarettes Can totally affect the mood of people, eg wrote 1/6 people who quit have more happiness when quiting, 3/6 use as anti depressant (yet Can either get happiness or depressed when quitting), and 2/6 are just happy no matter.

Could there be imbalance or something if you were to be depressed (etc) from smoking.

If its not possible to get depressed, anxious, and whatever from smoking, even tho i clearly believe we do not mentally get the same reaction from all drugs. Is there a disorder or whatever where you have a hard time speaking words because of your throat, get anxious, and feel nothing?

i believe smoking can effect your mood as nicotine is a stimulant. depending on how you would react to other stimulants may answer your other questions.

i do know my mood was effected when i quit smoking.

the dsm5 has many new mental disorders in every category. there is more than one mental disorder that addresses anxiety problems and there is a diagnostic category for substance related and addictions like smoking cigarettes, other drugs and alcohol. to find out which ones fit you, you will need to contact a treatment provider and go through the assessments\evaluations for mental disorders and substance related disorders/addictions.

You are experiencing withdraws when you are anxious. Withdraw symptoms make you moody

Also, nicotine could make you anxious.

Smoking affects the whole body- brain, heart, stomach, lungs, mouth, throat, skin, bones and reproductive organs. Many people smoke to reduce their stress but in the long run, smoking alters your brain functioning when it is exposed to regular doses of nicotine and other harmful chemicals. It also leads to thinning of the brain's cortex which further results in problems related to memory and thinking.
With time, your concentration power and focus reduce, you start getting mood swings and you face mood related disorders like anxiety and depression.

I know one time I quit smoking and it threw me into a deep depression. I was finally able to quit by using the patch. I definitely believe is affects moods, etc. I quit 22 years ago and it's the best thing that I did for myself, but it wasn't easy. My pdoc monitored me through the entire process. I still have mental health issues but at least maybe I helped my physical health.
