Hello everyone, my name is Ryan, I'm 38 years old and live near the shore in Southern New Jersey. My story is a long one but to sum it up briefly for now, I've been hearing voices for the past 4 months. This I am certain is the result of my dabbling with amateur paranormal investigation, mainly through experimenting with EVP (or the Electronic Voice Phenomenon). I was dabbling with this over the winter of 2014-15. Without going into too much background into the nature of my EVP work (since that is something I now regret terribly) let me just say that it went very bad for me after only a few short months and I decided to call it quits, but unfortunately it was not that easy. Soon after I stopped recording, I started hearing voices through the background noise of a variety of things, such as bathroom fans, running water, even through the wind on a windy day or while I was driving with the windows down. This whole occurrence was slight at first but gradually became worse and worse until over the span of about a week in early April 2015, stuff really hit the fan and I began to hear voices all around me, constantly, night and day through background noise or without it. Sometimes these voices seem like they are coming from someone who is standing right beside me, sometimes they seem like they are coming from within my own head. Aside from the constant daily barrage of voices, I also am experiencing physical sensations. I've felt everything from a poking sensation in my lower back while I lay in bed,to a weird vibration sensation that moves across my body. As for the voices, they were at first a mixed bag, mostly negative and cruel but some kinder more positive voices here and there were also present, now a few months into this, all of the voices I hear are pretty much consistantly negative and insulting to me. The past few months have been an ordeal for me to say the least. "They" came very close to crashing my life many times. It has been a struggle to get through each and everyday since this all began. I decided to start sharing some of my experiences with whoever out there might be interested and if anyone else out there is suffering from anything similar then I'd just like them to know that they are not alone. I dabbled in something I never should have messed around with in the first place but hopefully I can find the strength within myself to learn to overcome this affliction and get my life back on track as best I can... Thank you, I'll write more as there is so much more to tell.........Ryan

Hi there, do you mind me asking how old you are? Im sorry if you already mentioned that in your post and i missed it. Do you have any family history of schizophrenia? Ive heard that schizophrenia is like hearing an actual real voice. Its not your own.. Is this what youre experiencing?

Hi JerseyDude1977,
I notice schizophrenia noted in your profile, as a concern, yet reading your story sounds like this is a new occurrence, in your life? Aside from dabbling with the paranormal, is there any history of abuse in your past? Something that could bring forth this negativity that's reoccurring? Are you struggling to verbally communicate with others in your life? Any past head injuries? How's your sleep hygiene? Diet and nutrition? Granted you dabbled with something that you are now regretting, yet it's really important to have a check up with your physician. It empowers you to reclaim control over your own well being. Glad you've found PC. ![]() |

hi
Every moment of our life is precious so enjoy a single moment of life. A diagnosis of schizophrenia is not a life-sentence of ever-worsening symptoms and hospitalizations. Recovery is possible. In fact, the majority of people with schizophrenia get better over time, not worse.Recovery from schizophrenia is a lifelong process. It doesn’t mean you won’t experience any more challenges from the illness or that you’ll always be symptom-free. What it does mean is that you are continuing to work toward your goals, learning to manage your symptoms, developing the support you need, and creating a satisfying, purpose-driven life. |
