This evening I went to Marlee's school to help her and her friends at a baton twirling event. (Marlee is my friend's 6 year old daughter and I love her just like she's my own.)

I needed to be home by 7:30 to receive a very important long distance call. I kept looking at my watch and when it was time to go, I had the most insistant urge to not go home. Marlee and her Mom were going to go to McDonalds and get something to eat. Even though it was miles out of my way I had a compulsion to get in my car and go with them. While I was driving I kept telling myself how crazy I was but I kept on driving. We laughed and talked over dinner. (I never, ever eat at McDonalds - never!)

I finally got home around 8:15 p.m. and when I got close to the driveway of the apt. building there were policemen and flashing blue lights everywhere. Many of the residents who live here were standing in groups outside staring at something. One of the men told me there had been a shooting. I asked him what time it happened and it was right around the time I would have been pulling in so I could park.

God, (or whatever you personally wish to call Him), sure is good to me.

Thank you all so much. Someday I will get to move out of here. I hope and pray I will. It sure is a lot better than being homeless...

I agree with you, Tara. I also believe that we have inate capabilities to keep us safe. Whether it's an angel whispering in my ear or some other type of thing, I'm very, very grateful for it.

I'm so glad you listened to that inner something and were able to be safe. Those are definitely goosebump moments.

While I of course hope you do move... I think this shows that you are safe in God's hands no matter where you are (and you probably didn't even get sick by eating at McDs!)

It isn't a good feeling, that of being unsafe.

It's good to recognize and listen to that still small voice!

Thank you, GG. I had a blast. The little girls glued sequins, buttons and all things cute and shiny to their various outfits. The adults used the hot glue gun. They actually trusted me with one!

I had just as much, if not more, fun than the kids.

You are absolutely right, Sky. I didn't get sick from the McDonalds food! I kept thinking it was going to hit any time, but no, I've been just fine.

It is a wonderful feeling to know how protected I was last night. It is a scary place here, but I know I'm not alone.
